A published report says the Toronto District School Board’s new equity expert is looking at establishing a black-only school in the city, as a way of combating a high dropout rate and problems with suspensions.
Lloyd McKell, the new executive officer of student and community equity for the board, told the Toronto Star that city schools don’t do enough to make students of all backgrounds feel valued.
McKell told the Star a black-focused pilot school would be helpful for at-risk pupils, offering more black teachers, an Afro-centric curriculum and a more nurturing environment.
The school board confirmed that it is looking at the idea.
“I think we’re talking about the possibility of a school that would have black-focussed programs—but they’d be available to any student who wanted to attend them,†board chair Sheila Ward told CTV News Toronto.
Ward insists the board needs to do more to prevent at-risk students from dropping out. And since the Safe Schools Act was introduced five years ago, more than 1,000 kids under the age of seven have been suspended. The majority of those suspensions are African-Canadian youth.
Ward says that of the suspension hearings she has attended, 98 per cent involved students of colour. “That says to me—there’s some kind of a problem.â€
McKell told CTV News he didn’t want to comment directly on the proposal.
“I’m not going to speculate on what kind of a model we develop,†he said Wednesday. “We do know that we are looking at the particular needs of students who have come forth to us and tell us that they need some adjustments in the way we deliver education.â€
Ward says a model for the school has been developed over the past summer. “Black students have told us they have had particular needs to be engaged in our schools that makes them feel a true part of our system.â€

Sounds like a good idea. Blacks can develop their full capabilities without white oppression. A sort of educational Detroit.

Make them feel valued. Yes, that should solve the problem. Why didn’t they think of that sooner. Lower the standards so the blacks can pass the tests and stay in school. That’s how you “nurture†blacks and make them feel valued.

Of course she means a problem with the schools, not a problem with the innocent little black angels.

Toronto has falling school enrolments and they are talking of closing some schools. It will be easy to turn one into a black focus school. I wouldn’t bet against it happening. Talk of black schools isn’t going away. Politicians are reluctant to have a race based school but are tolerant of private religious schools. If proponents of black schools want to play hardball on the issue, they should force these politicians to define precisely the differences between religion and ethnicity. Politicians won’t touch that debate with a ten foot pole. Then explain that blacks are too poor a community to afford their own schools and it is a matter of social justice that poor at-risk communities have the same privileges as rich religious communities. It doesn’t hurt to talk about the black school as being a pilot project. That makes it sound like it might be ended if it doesn’t work out. It’s more likely that it can never be ended. If there are problems, these will call for more money, bringing in foreign black teachers, or having an independent black school board encompassing many such schools to achieve critical mass.

“Toronto considers all-black schools because of high suspensions and dropouts.â€
>> I believe they would call that jail!
“…offering more black teachers, an Afro-centric curriculum and a more nurturing environment.â€
>> Any chance that this “Afro-centric,†“nurturing†environment could be provided in Africa?
Naaahhh — I didn’t think so…
“[Sheila] Ward says that of the suspension hearings she has attended, 98 per cent involved students of colour. ‘That says to me—there’s some kind of a problem.’â€
>> The ‘problem’ is that you’re not wearing your (mental) glasses. I believe they’re in the drawer marked, “IQ, Culture and Pathology.â€
Try a pair on…

At LONG last! Finally we’ll see a school that offers classes in such topics as raping white women, pimping, selling crack, using the race card to intimidate white cowards, and the art of laying on your butt and living off the dole!
About time!

As a white teacher who works in a primarily black school, I would have no problem doing much of the same in the U.S. (such schools for blacks already exist). This is not because I support segregation or appeasement to foolish multiculturalists, but because of my own observations over the years. Black and white kids are by and large simply not happy studying together at the middle and high school level. If given the choice, both sides would boot the other out. It would take a plethora of text to make my argument.
Simply put, perhaps it is time to readdress segregation for the sake of happiness within the races, and not for the sake of hate.

As long as you don’t force all “people of color†in the same schools as Blacks that is fine with me. I can’t imagine anything worse than a dark skinned Indian being beaten up by savage Blacks every day just because he has to attend that school cuz of his skin color.

The white parents are in Toronto are probably estatic. But they’d never admit it in public.

Raj,
High caste Indians can go to white schools. Dalits can go to black schools. Think of it as an extension of Hindu and Muslim caste/segregation — although for quite different reasons.
Posted by Big Bill at 8:36 PM on September 28
Hey Raj I think all dark skinned people, Indian, black, muslim, chinese, korean, mexican and the rest of the illegals, and thugs, should all attend the same school, I would vote for segregation in a heart beat…it was a sad day for America when the idiots in Washington de-segragated our schools. Look what’s happened since. It’s a mess…if you don’t like it here Raj, them go HOME!!!!!!!!!

Lyla, all dark skinned people, Indian, black, muslim, chinese, korean, mexican and the rest of the illegals, and thugs, should all attend the same school
Obviously, many whites would like the option of educating younger whites among our own. At the same time, many other whites are comfortable with other schools allowing a wider enrollment of ethnicities.
A solution that satisfies both is to allow both these types of schools, and more (like all-black schools), to be funded by gov’t voucher programs. The amount of $$$/student voucher should be close to to the same amount currently spent per pupil by the gov’t, say, $8,000 to $10,000 per kid per year, approximately. Any overages in private school costs would be the parents’ responsibility.
The economics are relatively simple, as the net cost per student would stay the same, but the politics are different. Powerful groups like public school teachers would likely lose salary, and so are opposed. Remaining students in public schools will probably achieve less and act up more than before when their better motivated classmates are gone.
And, of course, the currently reigning, anti-white, duplicitous, multi-cultural orthodoxy would have to be displaced to make room for such a situation. If most people of all races already vote with their feet that they prefer to live in neighborhoods with citizens and students who look like they do, all that is left is for us as a society to admit this aloud and the the truth will out. The lies of the elites won’t hold for much longer.
Though they have the guns, we have the numbers.

This has been done over and over again in the US with abismal results. The students do WORSE in all black schools.
Posted by Tim at 11:04 PM on September 28
Unfortunately this segregation will include an “Afro-centric†curriculum. So another generation of blacks will grow up thinking all the Pharoahs were black and that white people stole their science and mathematics (which is why African blacks don’t have science and mathematics — it was “stolen†you see).

Best idea I’ve heard all day, week, month, year. It could
be just like the old Soviet Union: We pretend to work and They
pretend to pay us. The Black “Students†could be enrolled but
never show up. And the “Teachers†could just sit around drink
coffee and have sex. Eventually, wouldn’t show up either. There
would just be a part time office worker answering the phone and
opening the mail. Report Cards would just be an automatic A in
every subject.

Raj, I don’t know if you’re really a Raj, or some Roger having a little fun. There are a couple other posters here I wonder about also. Be that as it may, I have to give props to most of the subcontinental types I’ve met. I’ve generally found them to be bright and polite. I’ll see that you can go my school. We need to raise our math scores anyway.

And if it works, will this program be tauted as the model solution to black achievement?
Not likely. Watch for advocates promoting the multi-program approach; ie, even if it works, no one is going to suggest we end integrated schools.
Posted by sbuffalonative at 10:25 AM on September 29
My question is: why not be logically consistent and establish a separate society for blacks? Separate schools is a beginning but we have a long way to go.
Raj
I do not consider Indians, although non-white, as comparable with blacks. There is as you know a world of differrence between africans and Indians, not only genetically but historically, socially and in almost every imaginable respect.

Was this not called apartheid in South Africa & then the world was up in arms because they wanted all the black children to go to school with the whites. ??
Now that the schools are all black ( admin & teachers ) & the once white schools are ninety nine percent black because their are simply more of them, this is how they are doing:-
But let this not prevent them from separating schools & going it alone, at least then the rest of us can get on with educating our kids as we see fit.

Raj, you have got to understand that most all white people do not regard cacasoids with dark skin as blacks, and when you read of an incident like this referring to blacks they mean—-UNEQUIVOCALLY—-those people who are of sub-Saharan origin.
And, although they are the most unattractive race in the world, it is not their appearance that whites find offensive. It is their propensity for crime and violence and their seemingly unending whining about equality, because they can’t compete among civilized people.
If you are nice, most white people will be nice to you. Because some of us would prefer to live in a more homogeneous society doesn’t mean we hate Indians because they have dark skin.
We know very well what the outcome would be if Indians or orientals were placed in a closed school environment with blacks. They would receive the same treatment from blacks as whites and, I, for one would never want to see that happen.
While we complain that we are sharing our country with too many other races, it is a complaint that would be typical of the Japanese, the Indians, the Arabs, the Chinese, if they had to endure the exact same multicultural mob we have here. The complaints would be the same. Only the faces uttering them would change.
Homogeneous societies are what the average person in every nation wants. It is the disgusting out-of-touch elites, who drive us like cattle, who are to blame for this hare-brained multicultural notion, because they’re naive and stupid, and they should be giving us their version of the rope dance, with the William Tell Overture playing in the background, instead of trying to lead people. They’re too dumb for that.

This project is not about separating people for the sake of separating races. It’s about community. Right know, the black community is in a downward spiral. Violent crime, drug abuse and such are by an overwhelming majority committed by black canadians. Poverty and popular media are just a couple of causes of this. Statistics indicate that anyone from a poor or single parent family is likely to commit such crimes. The issue we are dealing with here is not separating blacks from the rest of torontarians; it is to try and instill a sense of pride, or dignity, or hope to black canadians that could proceed to a better life. This is thought to be accomplishable through mentoring and afro-centric curriculum.
