Surge in troops isn't enough, U.S. commander says

By echoing his predecessor, Odierno's comments raised concerns in Washington and Iraq that the U.S. war effort is exhausting old tactics that haven't worked. Indeed, many Iraqis do not trust that a new Baghdad security plan can change their circumstances because the U.S. and Iraqi governments have touted at least five such plans before, all of which failed.

The only thing this "surge" will do will be to postpone the US's 'saigon moment' of withdrawal.

As Senator Biden pointed out a couple of days ago, it appears that this mess is being deliberately prolonged so that the next administration will be forced to deal with it.

This I believe.

This I do not.

I think we've reached that point where we realize we've stepped on our dick YET AGAIN with this idiotic kumbaya nation-building bullshit that doesn't work with religious nations.

We're stuck like a deer in the headlights. Fascinated at the approaching catastrophe.
