I have quite a few registered voter friends who use to vote Republican mostly. Most of us no longer vote because there are no good candidates. I wonder what would happen if nobody voted at an election.
 
That's exactly what's going on now. Tea Party crazies are getting in because they're the only ones who are fired up and organized, thanks to Koch Brother money.

The only answer is for the sane people to get fired up and organized once again.

I really would like to but I've been thoroughly beat down for not having whatever is the popular opinion of the moment. Think too many of us feel that way. We've learned it doesn't matter what we want unless we are willing to fight a person to the death to have our own personal opinion although we've had to foot the bill for the last 50 years. Just recently found out that although the government took social security from me for 27 years, whether I liked it or not, because I didn't work 30 years in the private sector, they are going to take $400 every month of my retirement benefits. Okay. The world is the way the majority of people want it to be. I'd help you fight it but I'm old and worn out and there is a cruise ship with a balcony cabin waiting for me to go to Key West, the Bahamas, and Mexico in search of true cabana boys. You are welcome to join me. You can have the twinks and I'll take the rest.

Yeah, I'm old and tired and worn out too -- and it's easier for me to get the reps I want since my city is 90% Democrat. (we still have to fight all the upstate GOP snobs for any state funds, though -- I wish they would just move the capital down here from Albany so all those uptight white folk would just shut up, lol)

But this country is going insane, literally. It's Orwell with less lyricism. Up is down, left is right -- the GOP are hopeless ideologues who govern like a Taliban, all while decrying anything Muslim. Makes ya just wanna drink it all away...
 
I hear, you, Eggs. I remember when we all basically wanted the same thing, just differed on how to go about doing it. Now it seems each party would rather destroy the country than let the other side win or take the credit for an idea they would support if their party's name was on it. My new game plan is to spend all my retirement savings before the powers that be figure out more ways to take what I've worked for. I'll support myself in retirement by playing my violin, mountain dulcimer, guitar and drums on cruise ships and at ren faires and writing my little science fiction and fantasy stories. Then, when my vision, hearing, and fingers are completely non-functioning, I'll go live in a gov't funded nursing home and eat sweet rolls until the end of my days.
