The battle begins here: Superman vs. Zombie Superman!

Superman

Look! Up in the sky!
Metropolis. Day.

Superman flies high over his city, surveying its beauty.

Life is good. Superman is on his way home to meet Lois, who's returning from a two-week field report in Afghanistan.

The Man of Steel arcs towards his apartment when suddenly, stabbing pain shoots through his head, blinding him. He loses his altitude and wheels madly, crashing into a nearby rooftop.

Moments of unconsciousness pass. The Metropolis Marvel opens his eyes to a horrific sight: Metropolis in smoking ruins.

Superman scans the shattered buildings to analyze the pattern of destruction. Fear stabs through his heart when he realizes the pattern is reminiscent of how the city would look if Superman himself were to lose control and rampage.

A low, animal sound, accompanied by stomach-churning slurping and crunching, catches the attention of Superman.

He turns, and finds a ghastly mirror of himself. Not Bizarro, not some parallel version of himself from the Mutliverse...but himself, as a rotting, reanimated zombie, gnawing on the body of what appears to be a child.

Superman is repulsed, but also enraged. Though he knows that his zombie self is still a living thing, he also knows it must be destroyed.

Are zombies a "living thing"? I thought they were dead flesh animated by some evil force.

That was about as dramatic and gripping as your dual skills are convincing.

Please, just stop.

Why hasn't Zombie Superman shown up yet? :(

Maybe he can't find the thread.

The only thing Zombie Superman is good at eating is BIG FAT COCKS.

AM I FUCKING RIGHT GANG?

YOU'RE RIGHT, DA SHOCKA!

Through the haze of flesh-hunger, Zombie Superman regards his past self.

He sees a look of horror and shame in eyes not yet perverted by the virus Luthor implanted in Lois.

She was only a carrier. Lex made sure that she wouldn't die until she was...consumed by her former husband and friend.

From that point on, Superman lost all humanity. He devoured and devoured.

No weapon on Earth, not even those using kryptonite, could dent his necrotizing flesh nor his unholy hunger.

And now, standing before him is the man he once was, when he still was a man.

Zombie Superman lunges at the speed of sound at his past self. The duo rocket from the rooftop, high into the atmosphere.

Superman struggles to break free of Zombie Superman, but to no avail.

Once in orbit, Zombie Superman's flesh begins to freeze. He is able to assert his humanity long enough to say to his past self: "Kill...me..."

Zombie Superman sees the refusal in the eyes of Superman. Zombie Superman grasps at Superman's face, desperately wanting to sink his teeth into the flesh and devour it. Yet he faces his former self to look at the planet below.

More than just Metropolis is in ruin. Earth is now a wasteland, pockmarked like the moon, ablaze from various fires created by the desperate last-ditch attempts of the human and the superhuman to stop the force of destruction that was Zombie Superman.

Something behind Superman's eyes change...he realizes what must be done.

Superman grasps his future self by the rotting face, and streaks back down to the Earth below at super speed.

Superman stands over the body of Zombie Superman, twitching but still alive. He realizes he can kill his undead self by using his heat vision to fry the zombie's brain.

Yet Superman realizes the emptiness of the act. The nightmarish future he's arrived to would still exist.

Superman launches heavenward, hoping against all odds that in the horror that engulfed his adopted world, his Fortress remains intact.

tl;dr

Geoff Johns wrote this, didn't he?
