Normally, the rest of Canada enjoys sneering at the effete population of Toronto (once they called in the Army when it snowed), but now we're actually feeling sorry for them having such an nutter for a mayor. Cringe-worthy.

And it looks like he's refusing to step down and get some help. A mayor with substance abuse problems, in charge of the largest city in the country, buddies with drug dealers. What could possibly go wrong?
 
It went very well for Marion Barry in Washington D.C. -- while mayor, he was arrested in a sting operation for smoking crack, and went to prison for 6 months. A few years later, he ran again for mayor and was re-elected.

The Washington Post once wrote that "to understand the District of Columbia, one must understand Marion Barry." I sure hope to God the same isn't true about Tornoto, lol.

The Mayor of London Boris Johnson is another of these guys with a trail of mistresses and dodgy secret recordings, but he gets by on his personality.

I must say I'm baffled that Mayor Ford's story has been on tv so much over here, though. No one had heard of him before this and it doesn't seem like much of a priority, but every step has been 3rd or 4th in the running in the main news summaries.

Plain speaking is one thing, drunk driving and using crack cocaine are really not the activities one likes to see in one's Mayor, Gear. The pussy remark just further exemplifies his poor judgement. HE'S LOST THE PLOT is the point.
