What is the deal with that little bump right before the pony tail that girls have going on nowadays?

In my day, that meant you couldn't brush it good enough or something. I saw a girl with hair like that and I thought she just got done having sex. Now I realize it may actually be a fashion trend. WTF

As soon as I get done eating my ice cream for the night I will try to find pictures or draw one myself for examples just in case you don't know what I am talking about!
 
Okay finally. NOw I have found out way more about ponytails then I ever want to.
Cameron Diaz and Jennifer Aniston-they look like they just rolled out of bed. Which isn't a bad thing if you are the one waking up next to them.

My ponytail goes every which way from the band, because my hair is wavy/curly and I don't use much product.

I think the bump thing fad was started by that annoying insurance company commercial girl. Then they came out with the plastic bumps to help those gurlz who didn't have quite enough hair to back comb a hump on the head. Sad, really, because a good thump on the head with a blunt object could give them all the bump they would need to be fashion.
