The Fantastic Four: First Steps

I want to smell dark matter

They only finished shooting this in December so I'm guessing the effects are far from done as they don't even show Reed stretching once. Galactus isn't a cloud that's good.

I've never liked the FF, but I did watch the Jessica Alba movie. I like the aesthetic and retro futuristic look. I don't like Ben Grimm's voice and I'm tired of seeing Pedro Pascal in everything. Superman is my favorite comic book character and I'd say this teaser beats the Superman teaser. I've stopped going to theaters so it's not likely I will see either one of these in theaters.

I don’t have any strong feelings for or against The Fantastic Four, but I thought the trailer looked pretty solid. Finally getting a live-action Galactus should be something. And Pedro’s great. You simply have to give it up to anyone who can manage to walk out of the absolute train wreck that was Wonder Woman 1984 as the only one who didn’t come out looking worse.

Julia Garner is playing the Silver Surfer in this one, though in the trailer she looks completely CGI, so it’s hard to tell if she’s just doing voice work or more. Naturally, the usual anti-woke rage bait channels are doing the rounds—apparently because they’ve gender-swapped the Surfer (I know it’s not Norrin, it’s an actual character from the comics) and because Reed Richards is Hispanic now? Is that the big scandal? Hard to keep up.

I’ll probably watch it eventually.

I hope they let the Surfer get angry at some point...

(I think she'll have a thing with Johnny in the movie based on their interaction in the trailer and the fact that banging a silver surfing alien is totally a Johnny Storm thing to do.)

EDIT: you can probably guess what the clip is based on it being age restricted, SIGH.

I may be biased, because I don't particularly like Pedro Pascal as a person, but to me, he just sucks the air out of every scene in the trailer that he's in. He looks like he pooped his pants and he's hoping to cover it up long enough to get through the take.
