I'm sorry for telling you to FO too Headvoid.

It's just so annoying that someone was such a stupid ass vandal to my house - now the holes have to be filled up, sanded and the column re-painted; I just finished painting the whole verandah this summer..bah! ( -and bought a new flag! OMG double bah!!!)



May the *insert Gagh's filthiest, most scathing insults* void his bowels right this minute!
 
Doesn't anyone have anything good to say about work? Please?

I start my new job in about 2.5 weeks and will be moving into my apartment even sooner. Some encouraging words about work would be nice.

Work is a fun place. Nobody says fuckity-fuck-fuck-shitty-fuck and hurls chairs at the windows, then staples the boss's ears to his desk. I like work.

Also work= a paycheck.
paycheck=independence
paychecks also=taxes=and the only two certain things in life are taxes and death=maybe this isnt where we want to go with this

Well..... I haven't paid taxes in years... so I love my job. I'm even getting paid to play the lottery.

Fuck. You won't believe it. I'm walking down the street and my fucking neighbour has this Nazi Swastika Flag flying from his newly painted porch. Well I walk right up and rip the fucker down!!! Nails and all!!!

The Swaztika is an ancient Hindu symbol for good luck. It didn't seem to work too well for the Nazis in the long run, did it?
As for stealing from and damaging your neighbours' property, last I heard, in a democracy like the USA, you can fly the Confederate flag if you want. Again, what's the point?

I put my flag up long before they started sending our troops home in boxes from Afghanistan...but now it has even more meaning for me as they all volunteered to go over there, and they all went over under the Canadian flag.
They all came back under it too, including two guys (both fathers) from our little town.
So I'm wondering again what your point was? Are you equating the Canadian flag with Nazism?

I think he was making a little misplaced joke, I did too.

Patriotism is sneered at a little in the UK. It's a mixture of the BNP (right wing nutters) skinheads, the Royal Family and also our flag is crap.

Um, the flag isn't crap. It's just been tarnished by what you describe. I've got to say that that I've never had a problem flying the flag. Although with the tarnishing it's had through gimps like the BNP I wonder if the Royal Arms might be better flown at patriotic occasions...

Headvoid, I hear what yer saying about the flag...and it's weird, I'm not having it out there as a my-country-is-right-no-matter-what flag waving kind of thing; it's hard to explain....we still have alot of old duffers (including some in my own family) around who went through alot of shit so that we could hang whatever flags we bloody well please....
I don't feel like I'm being patriotic per se, as more respectful of those guys then and the new ones now.
The flag, the country, mean something to them enough to volunteer and go off and put their lives on the line for it.
Maybe that's what the flag means to me: freedom I thoroughly enjoy, expect - and have a right to paid for by someone else?
Does that make sense?
