The Station Agent

Yup, I saw it about a year ago. Very good movie, excellent performances by Patricia Clarkson and Bobby Canavale.

I know people rave about Peter Dinklage, but his performance seemed a little one-note to me.

Oh, and Michelle Williams was amazing. She's really shed her "Dawson's Creek" image, and I hope she continues to appear in smaller roles that are well-written.

Now, young lady....for your next viewing assignment...go rent Ghost World! Thora Birch, Scarlett Johannsen, and Steve Buscemi are fantastic!
 
^Already seen it. Checked it out a few years ago. Love the part where they flip the school off. Thora Birch's character trying to be *so* different was amusing, and of course, Scarlett's simplistic performance was perfect. <g> And one of the few movies where Buscemi doesn't die!!

I agree about Peter's character in TSA. While he was intriguing, I found myself leaning more towards Joe (Bobby's character) who was very funny and so oblivious to the world around him, yet also very aware of it. If that makes any sense.

Another assignment, perhaps?

Love that Ghost World... Quirky in a Napoleon Dynamite kind of way. Love the fucking shirtless redneck with the nunchucks at the convenience store. Hilarious.

Hmmmm....ever seen Richard Linklater's "Waking Life". It's typical Linklater excellence, just a series of conversations ruminating about life & death. The cool thing is that the whole film is "rotoscoped". Basically, Linklater shot the thing in DV, then had different animators animate over the DV. One cool part is that Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy reprise their "Before Sunrise" roles in one vignette. Great film, once you get into it.

I'll jog my memory for some more gems... :)
 
I've try to watch "Waking Life" on the IFC channel when it's on, but I keep expecting Mitch Kramer to start pinching the bridge of his nose like he did in "Dazed in Confused." <g>

Have you seen "Muriel's Wedding?" Caught that this weekend, and I laughed my ass off. What is Australia's obsession with ABBA, especially in movies? Look at "Priscilla: Queen of the Desert."

Never heard of Wings of Desire, Kerb. Off to IMDB now. :)

Muriel's Wedding was great - a coupla twists in the plot I didn't anticipate...

I had a great weekend : caught "Saving Grace" AND[/i] "Greenfingers"[/i] - both British productions and two of my favourite "gardening movies" on TV. Life is good.
