This is sad news indeed.

Never saw U2 live, but I got to jam with the Cure when they were still up and coming back in those fabulous 70's :)
 
We knew them as "Easy Cure"...they were touring in LA and had just released "Three Imaginary Boys", they were fucking AMAZING back then.

Now that didn't really happen did it, wee little Gnome? I know you're a fantasist Vap, but you can take medicines to curb these delusions and hallucinations - have another go at finding a shrink.
 
I know Marilyn Holderfield and the late great, Hank Greer personally, so I have no doubt that our Jack performed with Robert Smith. In eighth grade, I had a Lit teacher by the same name. At uni, I had his wife, Delilah Smith, who stretched my imagination to take my writing to heights I could never imagine. Something about those smiths. They are everywhere.

I don't know about "performed" but Smith was a fucking juggernaut then, as he is now. That was some amazing shit...we followed them around California for a week. They were promoting this album and had just come to America for the first time. He finally let us jam with them for an hour or so. It was fantastic. We were just fanboy performers with stars in our eyes. We met Fear, X and Germs the same way. Like groupies, only with chops and instruments.

I coulda opened for GWAR, but I was in boot-camp at the time :(

My friend (who doesn't even like GWAR) wrote me about it, I was PISSED!

Wow, talk about eerie timing. One day off wasn't bad.

This is a bit late, I realize, admit a bunch of troll responses, but in so many words, watching the 94 concert of "The Three Tenors" helped to introduce me to classical music. I always loved the Overture to Candide that opens the concernt.

It sucks that he died in such a manner. My aunt passed away from that same cancer last year.

RIP, Pavaortti.
