This might be the most contreversal thing I'll ever say

But I really dont think Anthony Hopkins is that good an actor.

Watched him try to play Hitler in "The Bunker". Was not impressed.

[Predictable internet opinion]Brian Cox was better as Hannibal Lecter[/predictable internet opinion]

Nothing will ever top his triumph as Captain Johnson in International Velvet.

I liked him as RAPECAT69 in RAPECAT69 UP IN YOUR BiZNESS FOO'!

I just think he is very samey in most of the things he is in.

Hannible Lector is just smiling while saying something evil, and most of his other characters are just variations on a theme.

It doesnt matter how well the other actors are playing characters, as soon as he enters the scene its just Anthony Hopkins.

Hell if Richard Burton hadnt died he would probably have never got any work at all.

I have to disagree. There's a world of difference between his characters in Howard's End and the The Remains of the Day, even though they may look identical in still photos.

And Richard Burton couldn't have played Hannibal Lecter to save his life. Drunks can't pull off that steely-eyed stare; the eyes are too bloodshot.

His problem is that a select few of his performances were so iconic, that the rest of his work doesn't get as much notice, except for the big-budget pics where he did it for the paycheck, like Meet Joe Black. In those pics, they just needed a Brit with a steady voice and were willing to pay.

C'MON HE WAS KICKASS AS NIXON!

Maybe I have not seen his best work.

He was just phoning it in, in mission impossible 2, and Zorro

I tend to stay away from period dramas.

Yeah, you've seen the blockbusters that he did for the money.

Watch Magic, The Elephant Man, Bram Stoker's Dracula, and Nixon. There's also a ton of his movies I've never seen.

Seen elephant man and dracula, not in a long long time though

this is the most unheard of thing i've ever heard of
