time for another post yer desktop

If you know what you're doing you don't actually need any active anti antivirus programs on your PC.

That's like saying if you know what you're doing, you don't actually need to wear a condom during sex. ;)

So, just make sure your pc is on the pill, and you're good to go.

Yub, you have to link us to that Zoidy pic or upload it on picturehoster!!

You also have a lot of bulky memory-stealing programs.

Ditch Limewire in favor of uTorrent or Vuze.

AVG + Hijack This + Ad Aware + Spybot Search + recovery disk creator = too much
Most internet providers give away free antivirus software (eg Comcast gives away Norton Security Suite). Try getting a good antivirus from them. If not, torrent and crack a good Norton or Kaspersky product. They all do the functions of the five you've got running. Also, if you replace the crappy p2p Limewire in favor of a good torrent program, you can screen comments of things before you download them. Thus removing the need for a lot of bulky antivirus software.

Quicktime on Windows is like tying a ton of bricks to a sportscar. Get VLC and be done with it.

Foxit > Adobe

If you run FF why did you keep Safari?

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD CLEAN UP YOUR SYSTEM TRAY! IT LOOKS HORRIBLE!
Start by updating your damn Java! All those icons down there make my OCD go into overdrive.

What's the festival? I assume there's a lot of E floating around.

Well, I only had one for a while...spybot, i believe. The problem is that I can keep my machine relatively clean and issue free...but my porn mongering other half (who's laptop died, big shocker) can't seem to. So I was having some issues with my comp and so I downloaded more anti-spyware softwares because they each catch (and caught) different problems. I have had NOTHING but bad experiences with Norton anything...and I live in canada so internet service providers don't give us jack shit for free.

The festival is Shambhala. It's kind of like a smaller burning man, in Canada. There is probably a lot of e there, yes...but that's not why I go there. It's awesome so if anyone finds themselves in the BC Okanagan region in early August, I highly recommend attending.

See, this is the kind of post that puts people off "post your desktop" thread.

No I appreciate the suggestions, doesn't mean i'll implement them. My old computer with XP was great, I had it all set up well and running efficiently but now this thing with Vista...eugh...terrible.

funny enough, my reaction to tiff's desktop was, "wow, she's playing it safe when it comes to malware."

and conchaga, kapernski totally failed for about seven of my customers when the "Internet Security 2010" virus came around. i usually recommend avira and malwarebytes as the one-two punch of choice.

Wacky: I didn't mean to sound like a dick. Her desktop image is pretty sweet. I was just tryin to give some friendly advice. If I were being a dick, I'd've called her names.

Ill bet her room matches her desktop tho.

My roommate is the exact opposite. Messy desktop, immaculate room.

Oh i'm sorry, don't you already have a picture of my room stored somewhere on your computer? I seem to recall you being one of the ones that's brought it up from time to time. That being said, i've moved since then. But my room is still messy.

as far as i can tell, Norton can suck mah bawls. if i ever met that guy on the street, i'd punch those stupid glasses right off his face. even if that dude on the box was just some nerd they hired to be on the box, he'd get the shit kicked out of him.

but yeah, norton = big memory footprint. for not that much more protection. norton internet security (back in the day, anyway) was known to keep people from browsing at all if their settings got effed enough.

Hate Norton.

Yes this is probably true! Unfortunately myself...and definitely not my sig. other...are that person :(

Oh and I realize that torrenting is what all the cool young hip kids are doing these days...but i've also had nothing but problems with that. So, I took it off my computer. I don't really download much software or movies...just the odd song here or there (I don't listen to a lot of mainstream music...I listen to a lot of stuff that I get directly from who producted it, aka djs) so its not much of an issue for me.

I don't really Torrent much these days. Bored of inconsistent speeds. I broke down about 6 months ago and got myself a Rapidshare account and bumped http://tehparadox.com/forum/http://tehparadox.com to the top of my download bookmarks. Much better experience.

You've got this upside down, btw.

If you have Safari, why do you run FF?

I actually have no idea why I have safari. I use firefox almost exclusively and it is my preferred browser (for PC). When I've had macs in the past i've used Safari.

Don't some things MAKE you get quicktime??! That's the only reason I can fathom having it.

Thank you, dahling.

I have a Warhol picture (Triple Elvis) on my desktop, but frankly I have so much work files and stuff on the desktop that I cannot show it.

Last time I had to explain to FBI why I had "Lazytown ideas" on there and I dont want to go into all that again.

Just say it's a sexual thing.

A desktop someone submitted to /b/ that I want to edit.

Actually this is 1 of about 50 new desktop screens I have rotating every 30 seconds, but this one is my fave. I've been taking still grabs from my movie collections, some of them (like this one) came out classic.
