Top five tv show of all time thread

I want to smell dark matter
REMEMBER in an unrelated thread recently we started talking about top five tv shows of all time BUT THEN I said "that deserves its own topic" and it DOES but I never started one until now. THE PROBLEM is I've watched so much tv that I can't limit myself to five so I'll try different categories but even THEN I'll just forget something and five won't be enough, SO THIS ISN'T AN OFFICIAL LIST.

US shows

1) Battlestar Galactica
2) Star Trek: The Next Generation
3) Star Trek: Deep Space Nine
4) Lost
5) Buffy The Vampire Slayer/Angel

(SEE I'VE ALREADY SNEAKILY INCLUDED SIX. FUCK, WHAT ABOUT X-FILES, THAT WAS GOOD TOO FOR A WHILE.)

Animated shows

1) The Simpsons (WHEN IT WAS GOOD)
2) South Park
3) Futurama
4) Family Guy (WHEN IT WAS GOOD)
5) Star Wars: The Clone Wars

BRITISH SHOWS

1) Blackadder
2) Alan Partidge
3) Father Ted
4) The Young Ones
5) Fawlty Towers
6) Bottom

...so I'm just listing British sitcoms and not even giving a thought to great British dramas like...umm...I don't know, must be one...

I just mostly picked my recent favorites, except the British shows, I haven't watched Monty Python or Benny Hill for years. Torchwood didn't make my list cause it kinda sucks, IMO.

This is impossible!

If I get down to the five shows I revisit most often - of any type:

1. Blackadder (and if I had to get to a certain series, it would be Blackadder II)
2. Star Trek: Deep Space Nine
3. Lost
4. Prison Break
5. BSG

That isn't to say they're my favourite in that order, though. For instance, I love Life on Mars, but I've probably seen each episode 3 times tops. It's just not as open to repeat viewing as some of the above, which have season-long (and more) arcs, as well as stand alone episodes thrown in.

Some of the episodes allow you to disengage entirely, and enjoy in the background, wheras with something like LoM, I will focus more on the drama, dialogue & performances, which is a good thing.

Eggs Mayonnaise

All In With The Nuts
My choices will change 10 minutes from now and I will have forgotten a bunch of other shows as soon as I post this so THIS MEANS NOTHING OKAY I MEAN DON'T MAKE ANY WAGERS WITH LOVED ONES ABOUT THIS BECAUSE YOULL END UP WITH A BARBECUED ASS OK?

I Love Lucy
Will & Grace
Roseanne
Sex and the City
Family Guy

Hon. mention:
All in the Family
M*A*S*H
The Simpsons
Soap

Dramas
The West Wing
Hill Street Blues
Six Feet Under
L.A. Law
Star Trek: Deep Space Nine

Hon. mention:
ER
Star Trek: The Next Generation
My So-Called Life

British Shows
Absolutely Fabulous
Monty Python's Flying Circus
The Young Ones
Fawlty Towers
Robin of Sherwood

Hon mention: To the Manor Born

* I count Queer as Folk and Prime Suspect as miniseries, otherwise they would be up there too.
