So... CBS and Viacom are merging. (Or more accurately, they are rejoining after splitting up years ago).

What does this mean for Trek? It means that all the licenses and character/design rights are back under the same roof. Which means that Discovery and other shows and any new movies don't have to avoid old Trek canon or designs anymore!
