At 17, he had the ethical and moral fortitude to try and become a father, and involved with his son's life. He didn't have to do that. He could have easily walked away. When the mom flaked out (I'm not clear as to why), he stepped up to the plate, and took responsibility not only for his actions, but for the life he helped create.
