True Detective Season 2

BAH, this season just isn't that good. IT'S TIME FOR ME TO ADMIT IT. :rwmad:

I don't give a fuck about Frank's life of crime or his baby problems. I also don't give a fuck about Paul and his weird mother... actually I would care more about Paul and his weird mom if they spent less time on Frank and had enough time to develop the other characters. What I'd really have loved is if this season was about Ani and Ray, tell their stories, and the two of them solving the case. They are the best actors on the show, and have good chemistry.

Will they ever get to the case? WILL IT EVEN BE INTERESTING IF THEY DO?

Fuck.

I was waiting for the INCEST to come with Taylor Kitchen and his weird mom but it didn't happen. Vince Vaughn is the WORST yeah I hate him and his stupid story he's shit.

It's a shame Colin Farrell only ends up in bad things becasue he's actually a good actor and his scenes are always watchable at least. Did he never suspect the ginger nut might not be his son?

I liked when Ani talked about loving big dicks.

Yeah, I think he's always known the kid wasn't his. Even though he's been completely nuts about it, that's one of his redeeming qualities, IMO.

I loved it when Ani talked about the girth, and putting handcuffs on it and then all the other sexual harassers were like GO ON...

I hope the badness of this season doesn't cause the show to be cancelled. I still like this series way more than other cop shows!

They're taking too long to tie in all the different story lines to the murder. IF that's what they're aiming for because I can't see any other reason to throw all this shit in there. If it doesn't all tie together it's a wasted season.

Yeah, Vince Vaughn sucks at serious roles. He's flat and boring. He's the most boring "gangster" ever. He's a whiny fuck too. "He stole my money!" Oh wah wah wah ya big fucking crybaby.

Way too much Frank, but I loved Ray confronting him about the wrong murder.

The lead up to the sex party and then the scenes of the party were great. Finally this show is going somewhere... but will they keep going, or will we get more Frank angst next week? FUCK.

Good things and dumb things happened?

I liked Ani and Ray working their shit out, that it kind of happened at the same time, and that they both see the goodness in each other. I wasn't really expecting them to have sex, I'm not against them having sex, but I thought it would have been more meaningful if they didn't. If they realized they are good friends, or something? Fuck. Anyway I guess they were both starving for intimacy and sex is tv shorthand for that sort of thing. They spent so much time giving Frank backstory they didn't have time to develop a real relationship between Ani and Ray.

Paul is dead, and I don't fucking understand anything about his storyline except he was ashamed of being gay. Who was the black man he was taken to in the tunnels? Was he one of the corrupt cops from the jewelry robbery? TOO MANY FUCKING CHARACTERS. Also, Burris just happened to be in the exact spot to shoot Paul? How convenient.

Frank's stuff was actually better this week. I liked him burning it all down. Too bad they didn't make him more interesting from the start. So much time wasted on him wanting kids, and trying to make him seem sympathetic or something.

My biggest complaint for this entire season is that they tried to do TOO MANY THINGS. I never felt connected to any of the characters.

It was the best episode of the season. It's a shame they couldn't have made it this good from the start. Even Vince Vaughn's scenes were good this time. I didn't really know who the black guy was either. Like you said there's too many characters. I'll probably be left confused when they solve it all next week.

If only Paul knew it's okay to be gay!

OH that article says the black guy is police chief Halloway (I still don't know who he is!).

Well this was a giant waste of time. Another "no real ending" ending. What is it with this series that leaves you saying, "that's it?" at the end.

There were bits and pieces of the finale that I liked, but mostly it was just more of the same tired plodding stuff. I think that about sums up my opinion of the entire season, really. Some stuff I liked a lot, but most of it was either boring or pointless.

What saved season 1 from being terrible was that Marty and Rust were so good. The plot didn't matter as much. I just wanted to see what those two were doing. Season 2 didn't have great characters, or it could have had great characters but there were too many and they didn't have time to bring them to life.

Srsly tho, that was the perfect baby Ray at the end. AND ALSO, I like the idea of Ani and Jordon as badass outlaw mommies.

The first 20 minutes damn near drove me into a coma. Big 90 minute finale. Bullshit. 20+ minutes of them shooting the shit in bed in a sad effort to set up Baby Ray for the last 5 mins of the show. I did doze off around the 40 minute mark for about 10 minutes too.
