Kills my pain, very nice. But, I find I'm working at the computer and coding away or something and listening to toons, and I think gee, I feel kind of funny. And then I realize I haven't breathed in like 2 minutes. So I breath and all is good.
Pain pills can slow your breathing down. Are you taking too many? Sometimes I like to take 4 or 5 of them at the same time, but then I forget what I'm supposed to be doing.
Wow, I wish I had an imagination that vivid. 8% of codeine is metabolised to morphine although there are 'extensive metabolisers' with some uncommon CYP2D6 isotype. But it's still a very small dose and not even nearly enough for respiratory depression. In a way, I am envious that you can have opioid drugs effects without the drug, but ... it's just in your mind. And - as a sign of the fact you're tricking yourself - you aren't having the other effects you should be having. For instance, nausea. At much lower level than depression depression occurs at you should be feeling like puking, badly.
It could be something else, though. Do you have sleep apnea? Is it central or obstructive? If it's central, then I guess there are few ways this could be happening...
I didn't say it has 8% the potency -- it has 0% of the potency, as it's a prodrug; but about 8% of a given dose is metabolised to morphine. The saturation point is at about 250 mg codeine, i.e. about 20 mg of morphine or so.
If you dump as many pills as you like in cold water (less than 75 ml or so) wait till it breaks down, stirring, etc and then squeeze it out in a cloth or a dozen layered tissues or something, your clear liquid shouldn't have much acetaminophen in it. But you'd not want to have more than 150 mg codeine to begin with.
