How difficult is it to actually start a mass movement?

When you look at Fight Club, The Bolsheviks & The Nazis it seems so easy.

Will we one say see a mass internet movement of trolls that will finally put it's dormant powers to good use? I like to think so.

I believe such a thing is only possible with money from the outside world.

You need something which can spread among people on its own.

"Peace, bread, land."

Something along those lines yes; how hard is it to actually recruit 100 people amongst the millions to start such a thing?

Hmm... demographics.

Groups like the ones you mentioned are usually comprised of the more extreme elements of an ideological spectrum or way of thinking, and the changes they enforce are almost always from the top down.

Get 100 fanatics, do something with them. By appealing the less extreme (Though sympathetic) parts of the millions, the ranks will overflow with footmen. The 100 will make up the Inner Party.

Indeed; from the 100 an elite should be produced and educated.

The less extreme will easily flow into the canal as soon as the foundations have been built.

Working solo then must be a part of the trolling exercise.

I believe the aim ultimately is to create high-drama; an army of trolls, who all appear different from one another, could generate massive dramas and stories that would dominate a forum.

Imagine imaginary love triangles, suicides, drug addictions, death threats, etc.

Trolls who are aware of each other could easily generate the most fantastic of dramas, so long as they make sure that they appear to conform to the norms of the forum. It would be no use going to a forum and simply creating an alter ego that had no purpose and would simply make you look a trouble maker. The key is to adapt to the conventions of the forum, appearing like as normal members but in fact operating in a purely theatrical sense.

'Sleeper cells,' Raffles.

We're just waiting for the ineffable "Word."

All will be blood, glory, jello shots and 'Trolls Gone Wild'...

Troll philosophy! I love it!

Trolling en masse can be a fun exercise, but you basically burn the bridge to that forum in roughly a week (in my humble experience). Raffles' covert trolling sounds like it could last and last, getting more and more intricate as it went. The only downside to that, of course, is that it takes a great deal of work and communication to keep it tight.

You can't really have a successful subversive movement bigger than ten people. More than that, you starte to get egos in the way as two or three begin to advance their own agendas over those of the group. The short version goes like this:

"We all know exactly where we need to go- we just can't decide which raods to take getting there."

Let's all take a field trip to your momma's bed. No doubt she is used to seeing so many men at one time. The only difference on this trip is that we will not be handing her tiny amounts of cash.

You just described my old gang at ABC news. Once we had these old ladies going with a story of a love triangle with the added spice of murder. We did the entire thing on an old board ABC left active without linking it to the main site and then we would post links to it on the ABC news political board. Some of the funniest shit I ever was involved with.

She's 78 and she'll play her Frankie records for you.

 @ ABC News. Silly Americans and their ridiculous broadcasting capabilities.

Trolling is a discipline comprising logic, ethics, aesthetics, metaphysics, and epistemology. Philosophy on the other hand is an investigation of the nature, causes, or principles of reality, knowledge, or values, based on logical reasoning rather than empirical methods.

Philosophy serves to give trolling a purpose.

Philosophy must provide the justification for the result.

Trolling is a method; from what I gather, the best means to work at practicing this method would be to examine the works of Konstantin Stanislavski and his method for acting. Techniques Stanislavski has developed to enhance an actor's ability to use his imagination, for example, are absolute must skilz for any troll.

It's my firm conviction that all trolls should come to grips with Stanislavski method and method acting as a whole.

Ten people to a forum you say? I agree; why not ten forums with 100 like-minded people? Things like troll kingdom should exist as mere recruiting grounds and barracks as well as a means of social development.
