V for Vendetta

Fantastic movie, better than Sin City. My favourite movie of 2006 thus far.

Natalie was just Natalie and she was great in this but Hugo Weaving stole the show as V. With a mask over his face for the entire movie he still managed to pull off a sublime performance.

I am one of the few it would seem who has actually read Alan Moore's original V for Vendetta graphic novel and I was perplexed with some of the changes.. - some of which are pointless - Why did they change the Rose from Violet Carson to Scarlet Carson?

I mean what is the fucking point in that?

Sure, it's minor, it still made no sense. There are other more major diversions from the original but it's hard to get hung up on them because this movie actually does deliver an originality sorely lacking in movies today.

It's certainly not a straight adaptation. The time frames are totally different for one, I imagine that if I was an Alan Moore purist I might get upset but I'm not that attached to the source material even though I am a fan of the original graphic novel.

As a result I was able to just enjoy the movie for the movies sake and that I did. It's not perfect but it does what it does right and mixes a lot of genres and material into it's two hour frame. The political message is as clear as ever, nothing has been watered down and that is really the most refreshing thing. The movie has an actual story to tell and it does it with panache.

Being English myself I did start wondering why everyone kept saying bollocks though. It's totaly bollocks that the English say bollocks all time. What utter bollocks.

Anyway, yeah, it's good, I liked it. go see it if you haven't and get a copy of the original graphic novel. I'll probably re-read it myself now.

Oh, and Natalie upskirt.. a;sdjklfa;sdlf

So you're saying it's the dog's bollocks?

Oscar worthy, though Hollywood seldom rewards 'genre' films.

Yeah, heaven forbid originality should get any praise from the fuckin' turd factory.

Anyone see "White Chicks"? How about "Death Bed, the bed that eats people"?

The Academy lost the last sliver of respect when it failed to even nominate EPIII for the FX award. It's all politics and by ignoring ILM's incredible job on EPIII and instead voting such movies as King Kong and The Chronicles of Narnia instead - which just do not have the same level of effect prowess as EPIII - they showed how ridiculous and pointless the Oscars are. They allowed a personal dislike of Lucas to get in the way of being fair and impartial and making the awards a true representation of film achievment.

Hence forth I do not care at all what the Academy does because they're basically children playing the favouritism game.

I don't pretend to understand all the acadamy politics, but I believe they tried to spread the awards around if they feel they at all have a choice. Meaning, Lucas has 7 million awards for effects already...

The Acadamy Awards is really just a huge reacharound party for the elite of Hollywood anyway, and I don't care who I piss off when I say that. ;)

ROTS should have one EVERY award in EVERY category I SAYd.

BETTER THN SIN CITY AR EY YOU SURE?

I haven't seen it and I hope I don't to be hoenst because then I'd have to form an opinion on it and that is hard for me.

Menty, didn't you see that I reviewed and read the graphic novel as well?

How can it beat Elijah Wood being eaten alive by a wolf!?

He's got you there.

Natalie attempted rape twice.

And Stephen Fry rocked.

V for the win.

I doasg

I hate everything myself most of all.

Watched it again to make sure it was as good as I thought it was.

It was.

It would have been better with Lexa Doig instead of Natalie though...
