Seahawks DT Al Woods suspended four games

Seatte Seahawks defensive tackle Al Woods has been suspended without pay for the team's next four games for violating the NFL policy on performance-enhancing substances, the league announced Friday. The suspension begins immediately and will include the final two games of the regular season and, should Seattle advance, two playoff games for which Woods is eligible to participate. He will be eligible to return if the Seahawks have a third playoff game.

Woods, the backup to starter Jarran Reed on the ride side, has played in 12 games this season and has 16 tackles and a sack. Undrafted free agent Bryan Mone will be promoted from the practice squad to take Woods' spot on the roster.

The Seahawks (11-3) already clinched a playoff spot. They need a victory over the visiting Arizona Cardinals on Sunday to ensure the possibility that the NFC West title -- and likely No. 1 overall seed will be at stake when they play the San Francisco in Week 17.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Kenjon Barner suspended 4 games for PED violation

Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Kenjon Barner, who suffered a concussion in Sunday's 38-31 win over the Los Angeles Chargers, has been suspended without pay for four games for violating the NFL's policy on performance-enhancing substances, the team announced Tuesday. Barner was already unlikely to participate in Thursday night's game at the Chicago Bears due to being in the concussion protocol, but now he won't be eligible to play again until Tuesday, Nov. 10, leading up to Tampa Bay's Week 9 game against New Orleans. Barner has been on the practice squad but had been elevated the past two weeks onto the Bucs' game-day roster, contributing a 33-yard kick return against the Denver Broncos. He also took some snaps on offense against the Chargers.

Source: Denver Broncos CB A.J. Bouye looking at multigame suspension for PEDs

Denver Broncos cornerback A.J. Bouye is facing a multigame suspension for violating the NFL's policy on performance-enhancing substances, sources confirmed to ESPN. Sources said Bouye is in a similar situation as Texans wide receiver Willie Fuller V and his teammate, cornerback Bradley Roby. Each was suspended six games by the league late last month, with both saying it was the result of taking a product they were assured was safe but contained at least one banned substance. In a statement last week, Fuller said, in part: "Earlier this year, I sought treatment from a medical professional who prescribed medication that he believed to be permitted under the NFL's drug policy. As it turns out, my trust in this professional was misplaced because this medication was NOT a permitted substance under the NFL Policy on Performance Enhancing Substances.''If Bouye is suspended for six games as well and that suspension is formally announced by the league this week, it would mean he would miss the Broncos' final four games of this season and the first two in 2021. Bouye, 29, and Fuller were teammates with the Texans in 2016.

sources: raiders' jimmy garoppolo gets 2-game ban for violation
The policy violation is said to be related to Garoppolo using a prescribed medication without having a valid therapeutic use exemption from the league, according to sources. Garoppolo will not appeal the suspension and will miss the first two games of the 2024 season, per sources.

Under NFL rules, he will be allowed to participate in all offseason activities and training camp with any team he signs with, but once the regular season begins, he will be barred from his new team for two weeks because of the suspension.

Randy Gregory sues NFL, Broncos over $500K fines for THC use

Randy Gregory is suing the NFL and the Broncos claiming discrimination over being fined $532,500 for taking medication containing THC for disabilities during his brief time in Denver. In the complaint filed this week in Arapahoe County District Court, the 31-year-old pass-rusher who now plays for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers said he was prescribed Dronabinol for social anxiety and post-traumatic stress disorders but was denied accommodations to treat those disabilities with that medicine. The NFL and the Broncos both declined to comment on Gregory's lawsuit when reached by The Associated Press on Friday.

The Broncos and the NFL denied Gregory's request in March 2023 to use Dronabinol during non-work hours, according to the complaint. Two months later, his agent, Peter Schaffer, requested a therapeutic use exemption for Gregory, which also was denied. Gregory has been fined $532,500 for repeated positive THC tests since March 2023, according to the complaint. The lawsuit contends that the league's and club's resistance to providing Gregory accommodations due to his disabilities is discriminatory under Colorado law. Gregory was a second-round draft pick of the Cowboys in 2015. He played five seasons with Dallas, where he was suspended numerous times for violating the NFL's drug policies.
