Watched Hellboy and Hellboy 2

I want to smell dark matter
And why not, I thought? They seemed to be fairly well received, I've read a few of the comics and they were...alright. The artwork was good, but the characters didn't grab me. Which was the same as the movies, really. They looked good, but the stories weren't very compelling. The first one was better. The second had a bit more plot but was pretty soulless. It was all just fantasy stuff with little meaning. And I missed David Hyde Pierce as the fish guy (yes I've read the story behind it on IMDB, but I still think he was better as Fish Guy.) Plus there was a pretty major character missing from the second one with little explanation.

Not that the first was all that much better. The plot was hard to follow and quite uninteresting so I suppose it was down to the characters to carry it...and they were meh. Ron Perlman did a good job but the Hellboy character isn't really as cute or charming as the movies seem to think he was. Selma Blair's character was quite dull. Fish guy was okay but didn't do much.

SO, pretty "meh" movies and I know the director's doing The Hobbit so hopefully he'll do more character work on that the bastard.

I LIKED THEM BOTH SO WHATEVER.

Well that was constructive.

I didn't say I didn't like them okay, they weren't bad, just not particularly gripping.

I've not seen the Hellboy comics. I did enjoy the movies though - both of them for different reasons. I like that Hellboy is a big ol' softie when it comes to the cats and his woman. I like that he was tested on becoming what he was originally intended to be but chose to remain what his human father had taught him to be, even though he was on the outs with his father. I like that he and Abe Sapien sang an old love song - Barry Manilow no less - when they were having women troubles. I like that Hellboy can take a beating and keep on ticking. These are two more movies that Hollywood made for me.

I think Hellboy 2 is excellent, and far better than the first. Del Toro is on of the best directors around at the moment.

Not seen the 2nd one yet, liked the first though

I thought the climax of the second was a bit of a letdown.

Haven't seen the second yet, but the first one was definitely a "C" grade movie. Just ok.

I thought overall the second one was stronger. Better plot, better dialog... I do agree that it sort of lost its way towards the end. But on the whole it was definitely one I'd see again. In fact I'd make an effort to see it. The first one, I'd watch it if i was channel-surfing and came across it.

It needs a jive talking robot.

It's been a long time since I saw the first one, and I haven't seen the second one yet. I don't remember being particularly impressed with the first one.

And he learns a lesson along the way.

I liked the second one because incest is always best.

Put your sister to the test.

Tell your brother to have another (piece of your ass)
