The best bit was the fake trailers, actually, now that I thinknabout it.
 
I suppose we should also have in this thread somewhere: "Isn't it ironic that Robert Downey Jr. won an Oscar playing the role of a guy who was desperate to win an Oscar?"

Nominated for Oscar, Golden Globe, BAFTA, Screen Actors Guild Award, Broadcast Film Critics Association Award, Chicago Film Critics Association Award, Online Film Critics Society Award, Satellite Award.

Only win for Tropic Thunder was Actor of the Year from the Central Ohio Film Critics Association, but that was also for Iron Man.

The Irish Film and Television Awards gave him Best International Actor for Iron Man too. I bet they have a great party afterwards, although he's dry now so I guess he just got back on the plane.
 
Yeah, watched this about a week ago as well for the first time.
Don't like Stiller and didn't really like him here either - but didn't mind him too much either.
It was pretty funny but not as brilliant as I had been ledto believe. :(
 
Stiller is what makes me hesitant, too. Unless he comes up with a completely outrageous character like Zoolander (his Austin Powers, really), I know exactly what to expect from him in a movie, and it's getting tired.
 
if your going to go for an oscar, dont go up against the young dead guy
 
As good as Downey was I don't think it was really Oscar worthy anyway.
 
This film was meh. I agree with Wacky that Zoolander was Stiller's pinnacle. Although one of the funniest scenes EVAR was Stiller's cameo in Anchor Man. IMNSHO.
 
Haven't seen that yet but I watched a clip on youtube and it seemed very funny.
