Watching Heroes the other night...

ArChaos

Red Whacker is hot!!
I don't know... it wasn't a bad start to the season but I wasn't very inspired by it either. I can't quite pin down what troubles me about Heroes as a show but for some reason the show doesn't click for me.

I also watched the Heroes Special that was aired before the Episodes and it seemed like they were desperate to make Heroes in to this legendary cult TV show that people around the world adored. They even had a segment on how many connections to Star Trek they have.

Again, it seemed a little forced.

I still think the show is good and I hope it gets better but for that we shall have to wait and see.

I pretty much feel the same (though I haven't seen the new episodes yet.) A lot of stuff happens, there's some good action and special effects and plot movement...but I don't care about the characters. I guess it's more plot than character driven, with characters suddenly forgetting things they've learned last season and acting dumb so that they fit with the latest plot. Compared to something like Lost or Battlestar, both of which can be annoying at times in terms of plot, but have FAR superior characters, writing, acting and direction...well, to me anyway.

Yeah, I'm a big fan of Heroes, but I agree the problem is with the characters. They're interesting enough, I suppose, but there's no emotional engagement with them. I wouldn't much care if any of them were killed off and it doesn't help that every single character that dies ends up getting resurrected somehow.

Already in the first episode of the season they've brought three dead characters back to life and shown a fourth.

Also, in that Trek connections thing they completely forgot Uhura (and to a lesser extent, Malcolm Reed)!

Is Uhura gonna be back this season?

She did fuck all in season two.

Yeah, they talked real big about her guest spots, and I thought they would be like Sulu's. But nooooooooooooooo.

To be fair, they probably had bigger plans for her later in the season, but it just got cut short. I'm not too bothered if her character returns, though. Nice to see Nichelle Nichols on telly, but if she's in it then so will whatserface with the wrestling moves. I wonder if Micah will be in it, too. It's hard to judge, but I don't think much time has passed in-universe, so they might have trouble if the actor's had a growth spurt.

They could just say growing super fast is his secondary mutation.

OH yeah, I forgot about Micah. Maybe changing the past only ages children.

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALT!

Hmm, everyone seems to think Tracy is a new character entirely. Suppose it makes the most sense, since Nikki didn't have time to get the virus cured, move to NY and get in Sheridan's good books.

Is Tracy one of her personas?

Maybe she's the twin Nikki thought died!!

It looks like that's what it'll be, but I think that's pretty lame. Kill off a character and then start the new season by saying "oh, btw, here's an identical twin". Lazy!

Just another reason why I can't get hyped up about this season. I hope they don't go the way of Lost (which lost me) and start doing out-of-nowhere plot devices, and never really going anywhere with the actual story.

I love Lost too, but they're bringing back dead characters next season too. I reckon if someone I know in real life dies, I'll be expecting there to be a plot twist and miracle return to life. Thanks, American TV!

^I much prefer a three-year-old child going away for the summer and returning a teenager.

I saw a few scenes from the season premiere, and I was nonplussed. It was mostly the two Asian guys and the blond chick popping in and out of time and space and making lame jokes while searching for something, like a weird Buffy-meets-Bewitched comic nightmare. The little gadget that Hiro had was cheesier than TOS gear, and the special effects were pure Bewitched.

Where's the stuff that made this show "edgy" and different? I remember thinking it was all that in season 1 for the few eps I saw...

They think by giving Peter a scar that it makes the show edgy.

I'm looking forward to them explaining that little doozy.

Eggs, you tuned in at the wrong time, really. Anything with Hiro is cutesy rubbish now. He's become Heroes' Jar Jar. Plus, you know his dad totally used to bang Mr. Petrelli.

Right, watched the first two tonight...stuff happened, at least. Shame I don't like any of the characters and they're all either idiots of have sudden unexplained personality changes...

But first, HOW THE FUCK CAN FUTURE PETER HAVE A SCAR? The reason he had a scar back in season one's flashforward was because Claire had been killed by Sylar (I'll get back to that too...) so he'd never absorbed her powers. Now we see that Future Peter KNOWS evil future Claire (wearing leather so she must be evil) so he should have her powers...but he's still got a scar so we can tell that he's future Peter. Uh huh.

Oh yeah, remember "save the cheerleader, save the world"? Except now it turns out Sylar can't kill Claire. SO HOW COME SHE WAS DEAD IN THE FUTURE IN SEASON ONE SO THAT PETER NEVER GET HER POWERS AND NEVER HEALED HIS SCAR...asgklkj. Anyway, she's a boring emo now.

Mohinder is a moron. I hope he dies.

Maya is a slut.

Is Kristen Bell done now? I noticed she was only a special guest star. So she gets fired and what, she just fucks off? Why didn't she fry Cherie Blair?

Fast girl was cute, at least.

So last season Hiro BURIED A MAN ALIVE. But now he's back to being all cutesy. Oh, and it's FUCKING OBVIOUS to everyone but him that in the future he saw it was HIRO who was the "villain", not Ando. Considering future Hiro was wearing a leather jacket (see, evil) and had EVIL hair.

Don't get me started on Nathan finding God...
