16 minutes in. Not bad so far, Dakota Fanning really is a very good little actress for her age. Cruise has yet to be annoying and they are currently hiding under a table.

I've heard that it's a terrible movie so I am just waiting until it gets stupid.

Shouldn't be long now.

26 minutes in, everything is getting terrorized. CGI is pretty darn amazing. Still a pretty good movie so far. Has had more effects shots than most blockbuster movies have in their entire running time.

Lots of Crusie running away looking frightened.

It's not a bad movie, I just thought the end was kinda lame. But I don't want to spoil it for ya.

Really? I thought it was universally panned. So far it's good. 36 minutes in, Cruise is playing his role well. I like the way it is shot and the cold grey/blue colour scale being used.

Oh, did you get that Howard Stern downloads? All working?

Excellent. It's really an interesting perspective on 9/11 .

56 minutes into WOTW and so far it's really good. I only rented it out because Charlie and the Chocolate Facotory was out. This is a really decent flick. Ok, so the ending sucks (haven't seen it yet) but if it holds up this way for the rest of the movie bar the ending then it's definitley good for a rewatch.

1:08 minutes in. Tim Robbins just showed up and my first real gripe with the movie besides the lack of plot has surfaced.

Cruises son in this is a twat. He's been a complete dick from the start and then he has some emotional crisis and has to go fight with the army in a totally useless battle? WTF? It makes no sense.

Other than that this movie is fucking wicked so far, pure technical acheivment, eye candy galore and uniformly good acting all round.

Upto now I would say this movie is getting a bad rap. Lets see if I am given reason to change my mind...

Ok finished. WOTW is a great flick. It does fall short in some areas though, which stops it from reaching what could of been almost legendary status.

First off: the visuals in this movie are incredible. The whole movie is visually stunning from start to finish and Speilberg is at his best here with clever camera angles and direction of action. The problem with this movie is the lack of a coherent plot. We see the events in the movie unfold from Cruises characters perspective. This does work but it lacks depth that would cause the audience to have any real emotional investment in the story. We never get a good sense of what is happening all over the world, the script could of been a lot better. The acting on the otherhand was good all round. Nobody turned in a bad peformance and Dakota Fanning does great. The ending wasn't a shock to me because I know the story but it was handled poorly and felt tacked on to what is an effects laden extravaganza.

What happens in the basement with Robbins character and Cruise is somewhat weird and I don't think it was written very well at all. Damn, this movie does falter in the script department quite a lot.

All in all this movie is popcorn fair at it's finest. If you are going into this movie with the motive to be mindlessly entertained then you can't beat it.

If your looking for a thinking mans Sci-Fi thriller you will probably be dissapointed. The bad press for this movie is uncalled for though, I thought it was great and I will be watching it again.

I give WOTW 8.5/10 but it could of been even better. All in all though this is definitley worth a rental and is a great way to waste two hours. I am mildy suprised at how good it actually was.

I liked it, but I was dissapointed that Cruise manages to destroy a tripod himself, is the one to point out to the army that the shields are down, and returns to find his entire family alive, the only thing missing at the end was seeing his car fully fueled and newly cleaned and waxed.

I'm surprised Cruise let them cast Tim Robbins, the guy made him look really small.

Plus they were hollywood grenades, with delay timers guarenteed to go off only when the hero is safe.

It would be better with Will Smith as Tom Cruise. Will Smith is a better Tom Cruise than Tom Cruise.

(I haven't seen it.)

I saw a trailer for a new Will Smith film with Casino Royal, I wont be seeing it, it is so clearly an attempt to get an oscar nomination, bad 70s haircut and moustache, little black kid, single dad, he even cries in the trailer.

Thats all we need him going down the Tom Hanks route where you only appear in films that will get you nominated.

I thought the plot was probably the weakest sauce imaginable, which is really disappointing considering the great plotting on other WOTW adaptations.

I think a typical episode from the WOTW series had better writing.
