Maybe it was just an amazing coincidence!

I didn't notice at the time. I love Star Trek but I don't want to marry it.

Star Trek would make a pretty crappy lover. Sure, it seems adventurous at first, maybe even a little mysterious, but before long it's telling you you're living your life all wrong and going on for two hours about saving some fucking whales.

But it kind of is a true representation of a married sex life.

TOS - You are bowled over at first, it is dramatic, engaging and burns itself in your memory. There are fun, unexpected elements that catch you unawares. You raise one of your eyebrows a bit.

TNG - You enter a more mature, loving phase which isn't as much fun, but in many ways is more cerebral. You try to use some technology (data) to help your sex life and decide it is a bit shit really. You never actually throw out the device though.

Voyager - there is a barren phase, you try to recapture stuff, it's nice and all - but it just isn't the same.

DS9 - you try anal sex - neither of you like it.

Enterprise - You re-capture the lost days of youth and fall in love again, but it doesn't last very long and you return to the glory days of TNG.

Star Trek 11 - You find hapiness with a new love.
