Welcome Wordforge posters

I have to stop going there for my sanity. It used to be fun to pop in, have a laugh, and leave again, but just reading the viewpoints hurts my brain. There's an old Dr. Who quote, as The Doctor is fighting an insane computer: "The very powerful and the very stupid have one thing in common - they don't change their views to fit the facts. They change the facts to fit their views, which can be uncomfortable if you happen to be one of the facts that needs changing." The Disney movie threads.

When Captain America broke $360M worldwide, We are Borg trumpeted the success that it was now a profitable movie. No one anywhere will tell you double your budget is "profitable". The rule of thumb is something like 2.5x your budget. I explained this, among other things, and was told I was a hateful racist who was desperately trying to make the movie fail (or words to that effect)--for explaining facts and realities. Meanwhile, as Snow White implodes, Tuckerfan is desperately trying to make it out to be a success. Before the review embargo was lifted, Disney carefully hand-picked some critics who said good things about it. But once the reviews were released, the movie started out at around 49% on RottenTomatoes and has only been going down since. Well Tuckerfan linked to the early cherry-picked reviews as proof that people liked the movie--AFTER the widespread reviews came out. Now he's trying to draw parallels between it and 2014's "Guardians of the Galaxy" to argue that it is actually doing very well at the box office and part of me, in the name of objective truth, reason, and rationality wants to pick his post apart point by point, but I force myself to listen to the voice in my head saying "Forget it, Jake, it's Chinatown."

The sheer irony of this coming from you may very well reverse the polarity of the neutron flow.

Tuckerfan is utterly delusional.

Wordforge cast of current characters, as I've observed over the years. No particular order. Feel free to add more!

John/Amaris/Coloratura/Sparkle Pony/whomever else it is depending on which way the wind is blowing when the Sun is in Aquarius: Spends way too much online, not enough outside. Claims to be poor enough not to feed his family, but spends a shit ton of money on tech toys. Claims to be a tech person, knows naught of what he's talking about. Also, Enterpriser.

Uncle Albert: Should have stuck with the Hanover Fiste moniker.

Diacanu: Another clown who probably hasn't been outside too much. Also a bad humorist and writer. Tends to equate all real world happenstances with lame fiction. Which you know, is both fiction AND lame.

Tuckerfan: Nothing of interest here aside from endless links that nobody clicks on. And an extreme hatred for the automotive industry in general unless it's from the 1940s.

Rusty Shackleford/Federal Farmer/whoever he is over there now: Probably too stupid to realize he's the board's whipping boy. Everything he says is pretty much nonsensical but. BUT. His missives do give the regulars a reason to band together in a squawking frenzy. So there's that.

TheLonelySquire: Dumbass.

Ancalagon: Probably has too many people on ignore.

Crosis: Locked into the idea of loving the smell of his own farts while lobbing bombs at others, rarely hitting the mark. Sorry, bud, I just don't like it when people glom on to various ideas like a remorah and can't let go.

Reinceweird: Some irrelevant Dutch guy or something with a fondness for ending every sentence with ellipses...

Aquehonga: What?

Who said that?!

;)

It’s a definite possibility but as I have gotten older I’ve gotten less tolerate of idiots or those who chose to act like idiots.

What’s that minimalist woman’s saying? If something doesn’t spark joy let it go. Arguing with idiots no longer brings me joy.

Oh you ain't kidding there, brutha. After 20+ years of... not exactly always arguing with idiots but just reading their constant nonstop drivel I'm kind of spent. I'd much rather read a book, listen to music, maybe watch something entirely brainless on TV, take a lengthy hike, or anything else that keeps my blood pressure down for awhile.

Are you two gonna fight or fuck?
