I suppose if that place proves anything it might be that getting ALL of your news from social media sources is a bad idea.

Most people fall into that trap, and it's always a bad idea. Explains the echo chamber vibe over there as well. But then again, I'm guessing most of them don't get out too much, so.

When I see a story that may look biased I check all sides, left, right, social media and the government.

They're all biased, but if you spend a little time you can actually form your own independent opinion about whatever it is the outrage of the moment is.

That's the key. Don't believe everything you read, put in a little research. The crucible of truth will win out eventually.

Of course. Because movie theaters give 100% of the ticket sales to the studio. They show movies out of charity and goodwill.
And having a $380 million box office doesn't do you much good if you wind up losing $60 million to get it.

I've discovered my source of enjoyment: Disney movie box office prediction. Anything else you say there, they can go "YOU'RE STUPID AND DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT" and it's impossible to refute. Is Seattle worse off than it was a decade ago? Maybe. But you can also make an argument that it is doing better than ever. A movie stays out for 3 months, tops. And you can look up how much money it grossed. There's usually reputable ballpark estimates of its budget and a rule of thumb for how much it needs to make to turn a profit. Now they can--and do--argue that you can't say for sure how much was spent and how much they need to gross to break even, but you absolutely can NOT argue about how much a movie made--or how that compares with other movies. So they best then can do is "WHY ARE YOU SO MEAN?! IT'S SAD THAT YOU DON'T HAVE ANYTHING BETTER TO DO." Sticks and stones... And best of all, since the movie threads are not in the Red Room, when someone flies off in a 'tard rage with a personal attack, they can get a warning. I mean, they definitely try to look the other way, but if it's egregious enough they have to act. :bergman:
