I think Rich is referring to Kendra as the souless bint, but it'd be stupid if she did have a sparkling personality. She's just a vehicle for us to see all the flashbacks and it was inevitable that she'd die at the end, so it would've been a waste of time to develop her character beyond the brainwashed "razor" that we see.

Yeah, she is just supposed to be the kind of random background character who'd get swept up in Cain's nonsense. I thought the scenes on the civilian ship were quite powerful.
