Yesterday, I was perusing a rather splendid thread named "Nudity is not necessary" at Word Forge. Basically, it's one of those stock threads where everyone posts some images of fit birds to drool over - we've all seen them, and most of us (males) have contributed.

You can see it right here for yourselves, folks.

Having seen some slightly off-topic posts in there (you know, ugly fat women), I decided to share some of mine. I hotlinked to an oil painting of Hitler, and photos of Pol Pot & Idi Amin, and to insure it didn't get too off-topic, two of Kelly Brook & one of Monica Belucci.

I logged in this afternoon, unsurprisingly to find the images (other than the fit birds) removed. GB had been amongst those to fake-complain, in his own special way of trying to OMG PUT ME IN THE HOT WATER OMG DON'T GET ME TOLD OFF ON A WEBSITE~"

Apparantly, the board's server is based in Germany (or Austria?) so any pix of Hitler / Swastikas / Nazi-related ephemara is considered unacceptable.

Fair point? I suppose so. If you have to keep the server sweet, away with the pix. But the thing that made me laugh is the comment their admin Paladin entered into my post having removed the images:

*images removed - inappropriate images for thread context may constitute trolling - Paladin*

LOL! - Posting an image of HITLER could be TROLLING folks!

This got me wondering. If you have to remove any Nazi-related content before posting, how could you talk about any stories Nazi-related in content? (Don't get me wrong - this hasn't annoyed me whatsoever, it's just amused me to the point that I'd rather discuss it here where I can hotlink to EVIL NAZI images)

So I guess, if you have a story like the Nazi Costume / Prince Harry non-event a few years ago, you'd have to fix it, right? So would it have to go something like this, to be considered as acceptable?

It would certainly be amusing to test the theory, but alas, I just don't care enough to do so!
 
Oh, and the server issue could be BS - who knows? Who cares? It's just amusing.
 
The server in Germany line only covers Hitler. It doesn't explain removing Idi Amin and Pol Pot.

Oh, I couldn't care less if the images were removed. I guess it could be construed as an act of provocation for posting them in the first place. It's just the 'TROLLING' tag that made me laugh.

I shall troll you with Swastikas, Sir!

Major deja vu when I opened this thread, going as far as Grammour Boy's post but then fading. COULD REALITY HAVE DIVERGED AGAIN? CONVERGED!?

It's now turned into a PM exchange between Paladin & myself. I'll be sure to post results here, when he's finished trying to act all manly with me.

I haven't been warned yet, but I have been told by the wonderful admin / mod or whatever he is, that apparantly posting a smiley with a wagging finger constitutes a friendly warning.

AFAIK, El Chup's contributions weren't even mentioned.
 
The nazi episode of star trek has never been shown there.

Although bizzary enough I did watch "the dirty dozen" in germany, which blows your mind when the germans talk german, the americans talk german, then the americans pretend to talk german whilst speaking german, and germans pretend to speak english, whilst speaking german.

I think the WF experiment may be drawing to a close. I opened a thread a couple of days ago in The Green Room along the lines of:

"I was so bored 10 minutes ago..."

"I posted at TrekBBS. I feel dirty, abused"

Or something like that. It has been moved into a recycle bin, or hidden forum where it cannot be opened without any explanation whatsoever. No PM - Nothing. I suppose it could be considered trolling, but again it's so tenuous & mild, I feel over-moderation at hand in clamping down so quickly, and with such lack of freedom. That's three instances of over-moderation without me even trying (or wanting) to push buttons.

I'll wait to see if Paladin replies to my latest PM, and if he doesn't, I'm through with WF. Even TrekBBS allows more freedom of voice than that.

The sad thing is, I was enjoying myself there, and had every intention of staying & becoming a regular contributor. However, it seems I can't be left alone. I have a feeling a preconception of me has been painted in the eyes of the mods & admins there of my actions here. Whilst it is probably partially deserved, it isn't ample enough explanation.

If fact, no reasonable explanations whatsoever is all I've had to date.
