What would you REALLY like to do for a living?

Consumer

Elder Statesman
I have about 5 things, and Ideally I'd like to rotate them:

1. Pilot. Always wanted to be one.
2. Mechanic (restoration). Preferably old Pontiac's, possibly Fords (no Mopar).
3. Personal coach/Motivational coach. I have my methods. They work. I like seeing people I care about succeed and be happy.
4. Bartender, small, dive type biker bar NOT in a collage town. Kinda ties in with the Personal Coach thing. This would only be part-time (could see combining this with #2).
5. Park Ranger/Docent. Do this in the late Winter/spring time...

A few months of each...

Note that none of them even remotely resembles what I actually do for a living. I do #3 informally at times (even when I don't intend to).

  1. Having sex with Brad Pitt on a regular basis. (And when I say Brad Pitt, I really mean Brad Pitt, not some guy with a Brad Pitt mask. Yes, I've really seen a guy wearing one of those. Not during sex, though.)
  2. Being the director of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew
  3. Owning and working in a biker bar/hotel

Build Treehouses for a living
Be a wine importer
Write a book about creative thinking

1. Lotto Winner

I'd like to be able to live on my art or writing.
I've thought about retraining to be a masseuse.
I certainly wouldn't mind doing backstage theater work professionally but I already do a fair bit of that and sort of get paid for it.
I'd like to own/manage/slave away in a bar/bistro/bookstore/coffee shop.
Travel writer.
Mad scientist.

Before I read anyone else's posts so I will not be swayed.....
1.Racecar driver
2.I would like to be on stage
3.Even tho I have become a home body I would like to travel and meet new people
4.Train people for a company
5.Bed and breakfast

Not in any particular order:

1. Chef
2. Priest
3. Superhero
4. Hotel owner

1. Major League Baseball Umpire. These douchebags make upwards of $300K per year, fly first-class when they travel, and get almost 5 months off a year. AND, they're fairly anonamous, unlike...

2. Major League Baseball Player. But only if I was a slugger, or a slick-fielding 3rd basement. Those cats make $10M-$15M per year, get all the adulation in the world, and get tons of free swag to boot.

3. "Waste Management Consultant", living in Northern New Jersey, driving a Mercedes S 600...if youse catch my drift *coughmafiacouch*

That's all I can think of late on a Friday when my brain is fried.

Sociologist.

I'm a philosopher trapped in a construction workers life.

1.Social Worker
2.Some Public Relations Job
3.Work at a book store.

One time I watched this tv show where this guy's job was to flip BMW's for BMW. He had this side to side technique that flipped the car on it front corner opposite the turn. Very slick.

I was thinking that would be a pretty cool way to make a living. What do you want to bet his son gets the job when he's done?

1) Architect who gets paid fairly and is recognized and rewarded on merit. That's supposed to be the way it's done but that's far from the way it is.

I'd like to be a "look-at-that-thing/place/person" person
and get to "taste-marvelous/interesting/fantabulous-food"
and experience "faires/festivals/parades/cruises/adventures-of-all-kinds"
and watch "movies/plays/sports-events"
and read and play games.
Then, I'd like to have friends come over and we share over snacks and drinks while playing Canasta and listening to music.

Canasta? Are you over 65?

Huh what? People get paid for that? I say they should.

Canasta? Are you over 65?

No. I'm very much under 65. Have you never played Canasta with your friends?

I love sitting around the table with friends playing board and card games. I liked it better when I smoked, but most of my friends don't smoke anymore so it is okay. I can still have a glass of iced tea and listen to the stereo while we talk about stuff and play games. It is awesome.
