Whats with the New York Homosexy Music?

headvoid

Can I have Ops?
I bought a few Rufus Wainright albums a little while ago and then recently Bought Joan Wasser (Joan as Police Woman). I eventually got too curious after all the hype and bought Antony and the Johnsons CD as well.

They all seem to know each other and sing on each others records. They are all Camp as Christmas as well. I like all of them.

Now, this leads me to two thoughts.
1. I seem to like very camp music (this music makes Coldplay look like Run DMC)
2. New York is having some sort of musical resurgence at the moment.

I'm asking this of Eggs I suppose, but he probably hates this music and listens to Country and Western while eating grits.

You never know, Messenger could be hanging out in all these clubs for all I know.

I have several of Rufus Wainwright's albums, although I don't listen to them as much now as I did when I got them. It's good stuff. I love his sister Martha, you should check out her self-titled CD. She often sings backup for him as well. I saw him at the Supper Club after his first album came out, and Martha and their famous dad joined him onstage for the encore. I bet that was an interesting house to grow up in...

I haven't heard the other artists you mentioned, now I'll have to go check them out. And as for the NY scene having a resurgence, it's funny: people seem to say that about New York every 3 years or so. Last time it was when the Killers broke out, and suddenly the post-punk New York rock sound was back. I guess a different genre gets its turn in the spotlight every few years, but there's just so many artists here that there's never not a time when New York is turning out new scenes or breakout artists...

*Stuns headvoid with the steel chair* BITE YOUR TONGUE! The closest I come to liking country music is Lyle Lovett and k.d. lang. And I liked that Dixie Chick song that just won all the Grammys but I don't need their album thank you.

Or serving drinks in a diaper. It's a big city full of interesting people y'know.

Wow. You're gonna shit when you see Times Square in person.

There's only a few porn shops left on 8th Avenue. The rest were turned into Applebee's and multiplexes.
