Where is the Random Thread of Randomness stuff that doesn't belong in other threads thread?

I hate humans and 21st century America so much.

Needed lawnmower gas. And gas treatment. But I hate dealing with pump prepay so I put the gas on the card and then went in for the fuel stabilizer. The pump didn't print me a receipt, so as I was paying for the fuel stabilizer I asked them to run me a receipt for the gas. They printed me a receipt for the gas. But not for the fuel stabilizer. "Oh, you wanted a receipt for that?" No. I only want receipts for gasoline. And tacos. Everything else I don't care about. Yes, dumbass, if I want a receipt for gas I'm also going to want a receipt for the stabilizer I'm going to put in the gas.

This is why I prefer dealing with machines to dealing with humans. Although sometimes the humans don't maintain receipt roll in the machines so I need to deal with the humans anyway--and they're inevitably as stupid as you'd expect them to be.

[edit]Didn't see the above. Well that gets my stupidity beat. Congratulations. Time for humanity to go and let the cockroaches have their shot.

I'm...not going to pretend I understand 80% of this, but it seems unlikely she'd purposely tell her security to bully an 11 year old? Unless I'm underestimating the evil of pop singers.

I'm just here for the memes but she's had an aggressive attitude towards fan and pap encounters for a while which is of course her prerogative (especially with paps) unless you are also directing your security (handler whatever) to bully kids I guess.

I think her outspoken position on this stuff (which is a fine position to take in isolation and warranted for how weird fan interactions can be) is giving more credence to her being responsible than not tbh. Jorginho's wife doubling down as well.

Anyways, Catholicism is BS. Especially this time of year. Christ dies on Friday afternoon and Rises Sunday morning. And that's 3 days. That's not 3 days. That's a day and a half, maybe. You can torture it into 3 days by saying it is really "on the 3rd day" and Friday is 1, Saturday is 2, and Sunday is 3, but that's a stretch. But that's not my point. My point is Lent. How long is Lent? 40 days. Easy. Any Catholic can tell you. "The glory of these 40 days, we celebrate in songs of praise..." "These 40 days of Lent, oh Lord, with you we fast and pray..." I gave up alcohol for Lent. Mostly because it was making me fat and I've never been able to go 30 days since at least the age of 21 without a drink so Lent was a good tool to give me an added nudge. Another added nudge is I make little chalk hashmarks on the blackboard in the kitchen.

I'm up to 33--IIRC. So a week to go. Right? Wrong. 7 more days only gets to the end of March--2 days after Palm Sunday. Is my math off? Are my dates wrong? Is 40 wrong? What am I missing? After double and triple-checking I google it up.

Lent is 40 days. But you don't count the Sundays. So it's actually 46 days.

WTF?! What kind of weird kinky math is that? I guess the number is important--you have to come up with the 40 days that Jesus was tempted by Satan in the desert--but still cover the time from Ash Wednesday to...whenever? Easter? Good Friday? Not Palm Sunday, because there's no way to get 40 days in that. But I guess the bright side is that I can enjoy a cocktail this Sunday and I'll still have gone 30 days dry and won't be breaking my Lent commitment.

OK. Back on the AI images. You know how Google Streetview has a "time machine" aspect, that you can call up earlier versions of existing Streetview pics? It's cool. But obviously only goes back to whenever they started doing Streetview--and however many times they've driven the camera past a location. I'm reading "Landscape Turned Red", about the early Civil War Battle of Antietam and I'm up to where Lee has crossed over into Maryland and the author is talking about the lay of the land. They should use AI to generate historical "streetviews," so you can see how they ground looked north of Washington DC in late 1862; what roads existed and their condition and what the terrain around them was like. Settlements, etc.

Oh, and to recreate the lost Dr. Who episodes and/or new TOS Star Trek episodes.
