I read them in the reverse order (and then Good Omens), American Gods was my first Gainman book I'd tried.
I thought it was a Stronger intro than Neverwhere.

Just my two cents.

Now, My Dear Miss Manners, if you wish to dispute me, then I can think of a suitable way to settle the issue.
