You could also just check it out without even leaving your home!
GE has a thing that lets you do the same thing, sans the legos.

I agree - the usage Lego makes of it is brilliant. I assume you can just bring up any box from the store up to the camera and it makes a model of the thing that'll eventually be built?
It's a fantastic example of an exciting use for a kinda banal (at this point) piece of tech.

Mmm, it's a bit restrictive having to basically stand in front of a digital mirror, looking at the reflection, rather than the object you're actually holding.

I just opened the window to do the GE thing, and realised that every single time I see myself on a webcam, I do that same three things, in order:
