Why are Glock's so appealing???

I'd rather have a Desert Eagle.
One must be a professional reloader or independantly wealthy to keep up with the cost of ammo for desert eagles.

I would really like to know. Thanks.
Glocks are good because they are lightweight and their ease of customization. The downside is there is really no "real" safety to them and if you fire hot loads you risk melting the tip of the slide.

because they are well made and cool looking

A gun that melts? Forget it...

I would say something negative about polymers in sidearms, but the fact is that Glocks are the first I've heard of that have that problem. (Not to say that other weapons don't, only that Glocks are the ones I've heard most frequently associated with it.)

I've never seen a Glock tip "melt". And I've seen thousands of "hot" rounds through some of these guns.

The most I've seen are slide rails break, however, those rails were out of spec to begin with (i.e. defective) and were being tested to destruction anyway.

nor have i heard of any gun melting exept for minguns

Some guns are actually designed to avoid this problem -- the Maschinengewehr 42 had swappable barrels for exactly this reason.
