Why are Glock's so appealing???

Glocks are good because they are lightweight and their ease of customization. The downside is there is really no "real" safety to them and if you fire hot loads you risk melting the tip of the slide.

A gun that melts? Forget it...
 
I would say something negative about polymers in sidearms, but the fact is that Glocks are the first I've heard of that have that problem. (Not to say that other weapons don't, only that Glocks are the ones I've heard most frequently associated with it.)
 
I've never seen a Glock tip "melt". And I've seen thousands of "hot" rounds through some of these guns.

The most I've seen are slide rails break, however, those rails were out of spec to begin with (i.e. defective) and were being tested to destruction anyway.
