Why did Sharona leave Monk?

They started showing the new woman, but they must be showing old episodes again. Personally, I preferred Sharona even if her voice was annoying.

Here's an explanation from Imdb's message boards, but unfortunately it deals with reality!

Bitty left during the break in the middle of season #3. It was over money. Sharona wanted a (big) raise. No one disputes that. A number of unfilmed episodes were written with Sharona in mind, but were rewritten for Natalie. I don't know how true the following is, but I found it on another message board:
"Bitty Schram, who played Monk's assistant on the first few seasons of the show left after a contract dispute, Breckman told a questioner. 'There was a contract dispute and the actress wasn't happy doing the show and wasn't shy about it, kind of making life miserable for others on the show,' Breckman said."

Is it me, or is Monk better than Diagnosis Murder, Quincy & Banicek all rolled together?

Monk shouldn't be referred to in the same sentence.

We never saw the character leave in an episode. The first time it was mentioned, it was said in the ep. that Sharona left to marry her ex-husband who was living in New Jersey.

I went on a business trip to Cambridge a couple years ago and it really blew my mind, I don't know how you guys deal with so few TV channels.

You must go outside and do real shit or something.

Also when I was a kid, I thought my teachers were just teasing me about the van that goes around to see if people are using TVs but not paying the BBC tax or whatever.
