Why do people stalk others on the internet?

heh. I remember the good ol' days of going on Xbox Live with voice masking and pretending to be a pedophile. "Hey little girl, what are you wearing? You want a nice tasty lollypop? no biting!"

Stalking people on the internet is way easier than doing it real life. You can only be chased off someone's property so many times. And, after enough restraining orders it'll get to a point where any distance 3 feet from your house is illegal. Who can live like that? And, you don't have to brave the elements either. You know how hard it is to look through binoculars in the rain? Internet stalking is the way to go.
