I saw something else interesting over there tonight. In one thread - I think it is RobL's gripe thread - G1223, A Karas, and GiGi go off into a thread derailment talking about nachos. As I recall it, Ru, you and several others were warned, and it was included as cause in your subsequent suspension, for salsa posts in an AQG thread. Shal warned G and A K, not GiGi, but I don't think she removed their posts to a separate thread in the Beach or threatened them with suspension. Apparently the staff is softening on that hardline approach as well. Or is that still only toward certain members not on their hit list?

I'd almost agree with you, Number 6, except for the "right to exist." Insular groups exist all over the place. I have no problem with that, as I belong to a few insular groups myself, but I agree they should be up front and clear about their purpose so that posters of a different mind set don't get abused there. Example, I belong to an Egyptology Society. Our membership is open but it is made clear we are a scholarly group. Not that we don't respect the occultist, pyramidologists, and other new agey type folks, but, our interests are vastly different so they are not welcome to stay if they are there to expose us to their belief systems. However, if they can gear their participation to our group's purpose, then they are welcome.

My interest in ExIsle differs from GTC's and DS's. It also differs from CU's and the others who have made ExIsle their project. I go to ExIsle to show them what they are, to force them to acknowledge the increasing curtailing of freedoms and their gross intolerance of any ideas they find offensive.

People like that need to be taught a lesson, lest they start bleeding this sort of behavior into real life.

You'll notice, however, that I spend very little time on this. I'm glad when they are shown up for what they are, but my involvement is limited to an occasional post here and there in support of my own values.

Sorry, not a mod in that forum, was in no way an official warning. I merely stated what I would be doing if it were happening in OT. So don't make up guesses for that action.

I see you are correct, Shal. No moderator from AQG warned the 3 participants - G, A Karas, and GiGi for their Nacho derailments, their posts were not whisked away to the Beach, and they were not threatened with suspension. In other words, I was wrong in thinking anything had improved at EI as the rules are still not applied equally.

Shal, you have no authority to do anything about any post in AQG other than to give a "friendly warning" much like any other poster. But, because you moderate another forum, other members confuse that as an action by the mods on par with "officially warning" and threatening with suspension when in fact that is not the case.

If you are aggravated by this thread just stay out! Stop feeding the nastiness. Both of you are better than this and it is very frustrating to see you exascerbating the situation.

Your "friendly warning" to G and A Karas is quite remarkable. Neither G or A Karas is "better than" that as both of them have behaved in such a manner for a very long time, in fact, it is their standard behavior. You are just lucky that A Karas hasn't come over here and started cussing you and calling you every filthy name he can think of. He really is quite the two-faced nasty boy.

I like cuss words because I work in the type of environment where I have to smile and be really nice to jerks all day, no matter how beligerent they are. I am a public servant working for lawyers - get it from both sides. Sometimes it is a relief to say to a turd - "you're a turd."

But, a wonderful thing happened to me today. I'm on vacation so all I did to prepare myself for today was take a quick shower - didn't even wash my hair - and put on some old comfortable clothes. This morning I spilled some coffee on my sweater and have a little stain there. Had to run out to mail a letter because I missed the mailman. On the way to the post office I had a flat tire. So, there I am, my old woman self in my stretch pants with a little hole by the knee, a white sweater with a coffee stain on it, dirty hair, and flip flops - trying to attach the can of "Fix-a-Flat" to the tire to air it up to get to a place where they can fix the tire. Cutie pie young man stopped and insisted he fix my tire and put the gooey tire inflator/fixative stuff in my tire. Okay. Even though I'm officially old and a mess today - I've still got it. (Okay, I know he could have been taking pity on the old woman but I'm not going to look at it that way today. He told me his name is Robert - Roberts and Bobs are always good for me - and gave me his phone number in case I need more help with my tire.)

Well, I've worked for private practice attorneys and there is some truth to that. Municipal lawyers are a bit different. My litigators are the tough ones. They are always on the offense or defense. We don't have a conversation, we have a discussion. What kills me is although I work for 16 attorneys, none of them seem to know what it is that I do. Occasionally I have to take an unexpected vacation so they realize what I do around there and it isn't just making their freaking documents look pretty. I swear, the next time one of them says that to me I'm going to put a pretty sticker on their mess and say - "There you go."
