Why is February so short?

St.Patrick's day seems like Halloween in America. I don't really understand it all. There are supposed to be more Irish people in Britain than America and there's little to no celebration here.

And I don't like the clover coloured TK either. They should make it orange instead. We could have a violent march past a primary school in true Irish spirit.

LOL, we used to march past an Irish friend of ours desk at work - I'm sure he laughed and laughed about that.

My uncle was in the Glasgow Orange order by the way. I remember once telling him I supported Celtic because I liked Kenny Dagleish. I swear he actually TURNED ORANGE FOR A WHOLE HOUR. I became a fervent Celtic supporter for at least 6 months after that point.

It's just an excuse to act silly and get drunk in some places. Really most of us don't celebrate it or if we do it's just to wear green to avoid being pinched or to get drunk.

It's huge in Canada. All the bars serve green beer & or Guinness.
All the poor school kids are forced to make shamrocks for Crafts.

- aaaand, our little town goes all out for St Paddy's day too. But it's pretty much all year long, to be sure....we have monthly ceilidhs, and every other tuesday there an Irish music pub where people get together & play those penny whistles and concertinas - and dont forget the borans, omg- and two big Celtic Music Festivals in the area annually,- you get the picture.
but that's cos that's all that's up here - Celts!
And alcohol and loooooong winters.

Well, many Brits have a slightly differing attitude towards Ireland and the Irish than Americans do. And it's not just for the native Irish, it's for those of Irish descent.

I'm not sure how it got to be so big. There are a ton of us Irish-Americans, that's true. And most people with a pulse like any excuse to get drunk. Synergy.

^ there really were LOTS of Irish who immigrated to North America...and they had lots of kids....and the Irish have always had long memories.

The Brits don't really celebrate any of the other Saints' days either, it's not just another picking on the Irish thing.

Yeah, we don't celebrate St.George's day or.. St.Scottish Dude's Day either.

I suppose we save our heavy drinking excuses up for the World/European Cup, where we can get bladdered even if we couldn't quite find on a map the countries who are playing(when it comes to those African teams).

Maybe he faked his death and is in hiding, rubbing his hands with glee as replacement presenters drop like flies almost as quickly as the show's elderly viewers.

HO HO HO IM THE ODD YANK OUT LOL

I was gonna throw in a St. John's Wort pun but it's Friday and it's been a long week. Plus I'm getting hungry.

TIME FOR A GREEN BEER YEAH!

Not only that, but if you live in a town with a river they dye that shit green, which is perfectly logical. AMERICA IS THE WINNERS!
