why would anyone want to post on a message board?

I want to smell dark matter
I mean, really?
 
well, why do you?
 
To pass time at work when you dont actually have anything to do.
 
Or to talk to people you have something in common with.

For example, none of my friends nor my wife like comic books, sci-fi, etc. So I go to various message boards where I can talk to other people who have an idea of what I'm talking about.

Now, as for this particular message board, well...I'm still asking myself that question.
 
I post on message boards so I can live vicariously through my online friends who have much more interesting lives than I do. AND I can't trust myself not to do things which are illegal and harmful to myself out THERE in the real world. Also, I'm surrounded by people who don't like science fiction and fantasy, and when I try to talk to them their eyes glaze over.
 
I post to procrastinate, to pontificate and to alliterate
 
Because on the freeway of life, everyone wants thier own billboard that they hope everyone will read as they are driving in thier SUV talking on the cell phone and not paying attention to the crazy SOB in front of them who put on thier brakes for a turtle crossing the road.
 
They ought to post on TBBS, where freeways, SUVs, cell phones and turtles are banned while SOBs and billboards are given free reign.

I post on message boards because they distract me from work that I'll be doing on the computer and it's interesting to hear about other people's lives.
