Windows 7 Installation FAIL

Gagh

Χριστόφορος
Installed it yesterday after backing everything up. Fucked everything up. Had to roll back to Vista. More problems = fucked PC. Unrecoverable software & downloads (Kaspersky, etc). Going to take days to rectify.

Next time I get a new computer, It's going to be a fucking Mac. Up yours, Gates!

Those Mac ads were right, fuck!

Clean install or upgrade?

It had to be a Clean Install, because the Upgrade option wasn't available. I was going from Vista Home Premium to Windows 7 Professional. I really need to be led by the hand through stuff like this. There's no way it should be made this complicated.

I think a visit to a shop may be in order.

good luck! (not said ironically - I hate that stuff. That's why I lurves my 'puter genius friends.)

It's fucked a whole bunch of games & programmes where I'd downloaded and saved the activation codes & retrieval processes into my mail folder. That's fucked. As a consequence, a few hundred quid of stuff is fucked, unless those messages can be recovered.

You could simply use Ubuntu.

that is gd but u cant use half the stuff u normally can, great emergency option tho i only found out bout that last year gd idea my man

lol indeed that will definately fix the situation right up lol

Right peeps. I doubt you'll see much of me until I get my system overhauled. I still have online access, but it's pretty naff, so I may be going to ground until now.

I've heard that about the installation. A couple of guys at work had issues with theirs as well.

Meanwhile, poor Tisi just wants a new laptop with WIFI capability for Christmas.

and a mouthfull.................

of christmas food.

Oh, is that what you were offering me?

sorry to hear, buddy, windows 7 did a number on my main machine, too.

i went to install on drive no. 3, it installs okay, but when i boot i see that it wiped out drive number 2 for a 128MB "System Reserved" partition. the installer killed 800GB of data to make a 128MB bootloader that could totally have been on the 3 drive.

lesson learned - back up yo shit.

GOOD LUCK GAGH, I'LL KEEP THE COCKFIRES BURNING.

(I don't even know what I'm saying.)

Those Mac/PC ads only seem smarmy when they're saying things that aren't true.

Trouble is, they usually are true.

JUSTIN LONG IS THE SMARTEST MAN IN THE WORLD AND HAS LEGS.

I haven't "upgraded" to 7 yet. I still have XP. It still works for what I need, so I'm not in a hurry right now.

i want it all and i want it now. as freddie mercury once said.
