Wordforge and TrekBBS: A Guide...

Now I've heard from more and more people that WF has pretty much become TBBS, the board most WFers left. And yes, the board is run at the whim of the owner with a small core of insiders who moderate unevenly and the staff ignores the wishes of the board members at large, but there are important differences. This post will help you understand them:

1) TBBS has ads. WF doesn't.
2) WF has rep. TBBS doesn't.
3) TBBS' political discussion tends to have a liberal bias while WF's tends to lean to the right.
4) The forum where member feedback is ignored is called "Questions, Suggestions, and Feedback" at TBBS. It is called "The Help Desk" at WF.
5) TBBS has more members, has been around longer, and is less likely to crash.
6) [STRIKE]WF has a porn forum[/STRIKE].
7) [STRIKE]WF also has an arcade and a gallery to host images[/STRIKE].
 
Actually, it isn't ignored. It gets discussed.

There have been many an argument and sometimes fights over policies and opinions. Elwood and I disagreed quite often and often the staff is of two or more minds over things.

The 2 minds of the staff at WF are douche and douche-ier. Your "better than you-look down your nose at the rest of us" attitude went unchecked for too long. That's why nearly 20 of your best posters said fuck you and left. Good job on all your "discussion" though. :clap:
 
I gotta say, I do feel sorta sorry for the staff. They do the best they can based on each of their abilities. But it's a bit like the military in the regard that, if the boss isn't up to the task, it makes things unpleasant and everyone under him suffers.

Now my limitation is that I'm all too willing to say "fuck that" and storm off when that happens. And since I didn't build up a lot of power or influence, my storming off doesn't have a whole lot of effect. Some, on the other hand, HAVE some power and influence and have stuck around when maybe they should've put their foot down. I dunno. I wasn't there. I think everyone does them best they know how. Unfortunately the screening process to run a spinoff of a Star Trek bulletin board is a bit different than the executive selection process in most operations. :S:
 
Tamar is a staff member, as as much as I think she's been a real mean bitch to me lately, I think she really cares about the board and isn't a "douche", or a wanna-be dictator.

Fact is, Tamar should probably be the one running the place. If I had the time and energy (and $$$) I would start a collection fund to buy the board from Lanzman, and give it to Tamar. (If she even *wants* the job - but I think she'd be the best at it...)

Though, then the members would *have* to kick in and help out with the operating expenses.

Well thanks, I mean that was a very convincing and hard to refute set of arguments. The logic was impeccable.


Look, I may not exactly be your favorite person, but I am on your side on this. I agree with you guys that Lanzman is at fault. And for the sake of - maybe if it's not too late - saving the board - he should...well, he should step down at this point. (And sure, I make no secret of the fact that a sizable percebtage of there people who migrated over here are not exactly on my "bff" list....but like them or hate them, they all were a part of Wordforge.

So you can continue with the childish name calling, or you could actually try to explaining to me, nicely, what exactly you disagree with, and convince me to support your views instead.

Thank you, but I said not only no, but HELL NO to that job several times.

I only regret it now because of the outcome of the moment, but it isn't anything I want.

I can understand, I wouldn't want that thankless job either. Babysitting to Peanut Gallery, taking shit from everyone constantly over everything. Screw that.

But at least you seem to really care, genuinely, about the board and it's survival - and members.

As it stands right now, both sides are dug in pretty deep. Nobody's gonna give even a micron, and the old board is split down the middle is the powers-that-be over there couldn't seem perfectily content to left it die under their watch - as long as they never had to admit that they were wrong.

(Well, maybe "die" is to much hyperbole...but the board was already underpopulated as it was, and now a huge chuck just broke off and left. Sure, there are plenty of posters left, but it's a shadow of it's former self. If it dies, it will be a slow withering away to nothing.)

O2C brought back the arcade. I'm not sure about the gallery. The last time I tried to upload stuff to the gallery I was told that I didn't have permission to or something like that.

I think you would have made a far better owner for the board than Lanzman has turned out to be.

Would you care to comment on Bears claim that there is a list of successors that was created at the time the board was taken from Borgs and who is on the "short list" as Bear claims there to be?

I disagree with your kissing Tamar's ass on 2 boards at the same time. I don't think Tamar is a bad person, I do however think she has shown time and time again that she is a terrible moderator/admin and tends to stir up trouble where there shouldn't be any. In short, she lives for drama. So you blindly kissing her ass makes you a retard.
 
I already did at WF, but I can do so again.

It's bullshit.

There is no official "shortlist". Since Elwood and Bear are friends most likely at some point Elwood mentioned he had his own shortlist of options if he ever left, but that is just thinking ahead not any sort of "Blacklist".
