WrestleMania 27

CaptainWacky

I want to smell dark matter
IS THIS SUNDAY

I'll watch it anyway!

Daniel Bryan versus Sheamus - They've killed Bryan's heat with this stupid "ladies man" gimmick. Sheamus was doing well a year ago but they stupidly jobbed him out after he won the King Of The Ring. Could be a good match if they get a decent amount of time.

Cody Rhodes versus Rey Mysterio - Cody has been doing well with his new character. Rey always delivers in the ring, but I'm reminded of his match with Punk at last years WrestleMania which could have stolen the show...if it had lasted longer than five minutes.

Big Show, Kane, Santino and Koslov versus The Corre - Just a way to get some people on the show. Don't care, keep it short.

CM Punk versus Randy Orton - The build-up has been pretty good. Of the undercard matches this is the most high profile one so you'd think it would last a decent lenght of time. Should be a good match. Would like to see them do something different and have Punk win, but...

John Morrison, Trish Stratus and Snooki versus Dolph Ziggler, Layla and Michelle McCool - What is this? What the fuck. Apparently this Snooki thing is a huge name. Why? No idea why Trish is wrestling again when she just does the same three moves every match now and, let's face it, isn't hot anymore. Layla is lovely, at least. The annoying thing is that Morrison and Ziggler could have a good match together.

Jerry Lawyer verus Michael Cole - Has had the best build-up of any match on the show. Even though it's between two announcers. There will be enough interference and involvement from Austin and Jack Swagger to make it entertaining.

The Undertaker versus Triple H - Up until RAW the build up to this was really lazy with the two just coming out every week and saying "we're the biggest stars, let's have a match!" There's absolutely no reason to end The Undertaker's winning streak here. I'm sure they'll have a good match.

Edge versus Alberto Del Rio - Just have Del Rio win the belt. It's obviously going to happen, so don't ruin him by having him lose.

The Miz versus John Cena - Obviously this is more about Cena versus The Rock. I can see Miz winning with help from The Rock here and then some kind of fight between Rock and Cena. Lots of people are predicting Rock will actually put himself in a match and beat Cena for the belt at the end of the show, but if he isn't going to wrestle again soon that would be pointless. I think Rock/Cena is certain to happen at some point this year given.

SHOULD BE AN OKAY SHOW?

SO...

First of all, Daniel Bryan versus Shameus was taken off the show. Which is ridiculous since they had time for unfunny backstage bits with Pee Wee Herman, Mae Young and Snoop Dogg (okay, he was kind of funny) and a fucking choir singing for Cena but not an actual wrestling match. There's no reason at all they couldn't have had nine matches on a four hour show.

Edge beat Del Rio - Yes, the World title match was the opener. It was a good match. I expect Del Rio will get the belt at next month's ppv.

Cody beat Rey - Good match but that was mostly thanks to Cody. It's pretty clear that Rey is really limited in what he can do after years of injuries. Kind of sad really! His Captain America costume was cool.

Big Show, Kane, Santino and Kofi beat The Corre - Last like a minute. What was the point?

Randy Orton beat CM Punk - Really good match.

Michael Cole beat Jerry Lawler by DQ...I guess - Yes they managed to fuck this match up. Then actually had Cole work over Lawler's ankle for a really long time and it looked pathetic. And Lawler didn't even hit the piledriver! Then Austin stunned Booker T for no reason. Seriously, what the fuck was this? Not quite as horrible as Bret/Vince last year but you'd think they would have learned their lesson.

Undertaker beat Triple H - Great match. Taker did his WrestleMania dive and took an awesome bump through a table. After that it was just kicking out of finishers for like 20 minutes but the drama was there. Undertaker was close to dead afterwards.

Morrison, Trish and Snooki beat Ziggler and LayCool - Really short match, the men didn't even tag in. Snooki hit two moves well but didn't have to do anything else.

Miz beat Cena - Match was going okay but no one cared since everyone was booing Cena but not cheering Miz. Then they had a double countout. So Rock restarts the match...then just gives Cena a Rock Bottom right away so Miz wins. Totally anti-climatic ending. Felt more like a set-up for Cena/Rock then an actual WrestleMania main event and who knows when Cena/Rock will actually happen.

SHOW DIDN'T LIVE UP TO ITS POTENTIAL

(No one's going to reply to this.)

Is The Rock getting back into wrestling? OR maybe he never completely quit? He was sexy in the WrestleMania commercials.

I'm half-way through. Probably going to leave watching the second half until tomorrow and play Civ V instead for a while.

Full show report tomorrow but don't expect me to agree with the Rock's multiple declarations that this is/will be the most memorable WM ever because it's not looking good so far.

Wow, that sounds like a shitty card, especially for wrestlemania. Used to be they saved the best of the best for that show...

The Rock lied to the people. :(

The stuff that the Rock is cooking smells like crappy movies.

I swear I thought I saw the words "Chris Eubank" in the crowd when I was watching but quickly dismissed it as something I'd imagined.

Ack! I totally forgot about this one, because we had planned on ordering it. Booo to me!

Consider it money well-saved. Sounds like it sucked pretty bad.

At some point is Taker gonna go ahead and let someone beat him at WM? The guy's like a hundred years old now...

I remember The Miz from MTV's Real World.

Well there would have been no point having Triple H beat Taker since Triple H is almost as established as him and doesn't need the win...same with the Shawn Michaels matches the previous two years. Ideally they'd build up some new hot young star who could take the mainstream world by storm and have him beat Undertaker at WM...but the WWE are terrible at creating new stars now.

Edge beat Del Rio - Good match. Edge always brings it. Still, it didn't feel like anything you wouldn't see on Raw or Smackdown except for smashing up a Rolls Royce at the end. Having this as the opener really threw the pacing of the whole show off for me as well.

Cody beat Rey - Another good match. Cody has skills, no doubt. The whole angle with his face being shattered was shit though since it was obvious there was absolutely nothing wrong with his face. Again, this was a good match but that was it. I expect more from WM.

Big Show, Kane, Santino and Kofi beat The Corre - Squash match. Pointless.

Randy Orton beat CM Punk - I enjoyed this one a lot. Great work from both guys ans the last RKO was sick. All good.

Michael Cole beat Jerry Lawler by DQ - This was retarded. I liked Michael Cole's wrestling attire though. It was stupid playing this one straight and it was just an excuse for Austin to stunner a couple of mugs at the end and then drink some beer for a cheap pop. Meh. Why did he stunner Booker T again?

Undertaker beat Triple H - I am left a bit cold on this one actually. Taker looked off the pace from the start and despite taking some awesome bumps I never felt like it reached its potential. While this was a really good match it wasn't on par with the previous Shawn Michaels bouts. HHH hitting the tombstone was cool though. Also, was Taker really hurt at the end because if not he REALLY over sold it. Seemed weird. Gotta say HHH's entrance to Metallica's - For Whom The Bell Tolls was fucking bad-ass though.

Morrison, Trish and Snooki beat Ziggler and LayCool - Herp Derp.

Miz beat Cena - Thought both Cena and Miz worked hard and put on a half decent match but it was still pretty weak sauce for the last match on the card at WM. The fucking choir at the beginning was gay as well. Again, this was just really a setup for Rock to come down and hit his specials and get more cheap pops to end a rather disappointing WrestleMania. They really need to step it up for next year.

I think the thing with Cody is that he's supposed to look normal but he's crazy and sees himself as mutilated...I guess.

Undertaker and HHH were both announced as being fined an undisclosed amount for the chair shot to the head delivered by HHH, since it is against company policy.

They obviously would have known before the match that they'd be fined but did it anyway.

By the way I recommend downloading Tough Enough. I watched the first episode and it was surprisingly good. Austin is actually a really good host and is basically just fucking awesome in every bit of it.

I downloaded it, haven't watched yet.

Here's some backstage WrestleMania gossip!

There is backstage heat on both John Morrison and Melina, reports Pro Wrestling Torch. It centers around the Six-Person Mixed Tag Team Match at Wrestlemania XXVII, which saw Morrison repeatedly brush partner Trish Stratus off.

During their post-match celebration, Stratus hugged Snooki and went to hug Morrison, but he had already turned his back on her. Morrison then led Snooki to the corner of the ring and used the Jersey Shore star as a shield, to guard himself from Stratus.

The backstory behind Morrison's awkward body language is that either he or Melina, his girlfriend, felt Stratus took her spot in the Six-Person Mixed Tag Team Match at Wrestlemania XXVII. The backstage belief is that he either holds Stratus in contempt for taking Melina's spot on the card, or had to portray himself as such so that she would believe he was rude to her.

Behind the scenes, Morrison rejected various ideas Stratus had for their match at WrestleMania XXVII, and was said to be very difficult to work with. His outright refusal to comply with any of her suggestions reportedly hurt her feelings. Word quickly spread amongst the locker room, garnering heat.

Many feel Morrison's unprofessional behavior will set back his standing in WWE since Stratus is highly regarded amongst company personnel.

While Morrison is considered a nice guy, he's not greatly respected amongst his peers. This dates back several years due to his real-life relationship with Melina. Particularly, he lost a lot of respect for allowing Melina to engage in a sexual relationship with former WWE talent Dave Bautista (a/k/a Batista) while the two were dating. The former WWE World Heavyweight Champion made no qualms of being intimately involved with Melina in his 2007 autobiography, Batista Unleashed. He wrote:

"My wife thought I was sleeping with Melina right off the bat, while we were still married. It wasn't true, but it did make me feel guilty about being friends with her.

"Since then, as I've said, Melina and I have gotten closer and our relationship has become physical. That's caused a bit of controversy, but I don't give a shit. She's my friend, and I love her very much."

Former WWE stars Paul London and Brian Kendrick alleged numerous behind the scenes stories involving Melina and Morrison in their 2010 "shoot" interview, Brian Kendrick & Paul London's Excellent Adventure. London stated that Morrison is 'spineless' because he repeatedly permitted Melina to engage in sexual activity with outside partners while the two were dating. He added that Morrison would accompany Melina on dates with her partner of choice. Kendrick also claimed that he himself had been intimate with Melina.

And here's Vince being crazy and taking the word "wrestling" out of WWE.

Vince McMahon is taking the wrestling out of World Wrestling Entertainment Inc.

No, this isn't an outrageous plot the colorful impresario has cooked up for his wrestlers to act out in front of thousands of screaming fans. McMahon, the chairman and chief executive of WWE, wants to give the company a makeover, starting with the name. From now on WWE will no longer stand for World Wrestling Entertainment. It will just be WWE, plain and simple.

"I think every brand has to re-create itself," he said. "I want everyone to look at us in a vastly different way than they have."

To do that, McMahon plans to go on a spending spree to acquire media assets that could expand WWE's business beyond the ring. In particular, he said, WWE is targeting companies involved in production, live entertainment and branding.

"It is a logical broadening of what we already do," McMahon said in an interview.

Neither McMahon nor Chief Financial Officer George Barrios would say how big of an investment WWE intends to make on acquisitions. The company, which made $53.5 million in 2010 on revenue of $477.7 million and has cash flow of $94 million, has very little debt on its books and about $69.8 million in cash.

"To me, it is anything that is out there," McMahon said, adding, "We can take on a ton of debt."

Besides hunting for acquisitions, WWE is moving ahead with long-talked-about plans to create its own cable network for its vast library of wrestling fare. The company has been meeting with distributors including Verizon and hopes to get a channel launched in 2012.

McMahon also wants to start marketing WWE's expertise in producing live events.

"No one does television production better than we do, it's damn near the Olympics," McMahon said in his customary rasp after an afternoon rehearsing for a taping of one of WWE's shows. "We know more about live event touring than anyone in the United States." The company puts on about 300 shows annually.

The moves come as WWE looks to rebound from a tough end to 2010 that saw attendance at its events and pay-per-view revenue both drop 15% in the fourth quarter. The declines were blamed on the economy, although WWE probably didn't help matters by raising prices at a time when its core audience was feeling the pinch.

While ratings for its shows including "Raw" and "SmackDown" are still strong, WWE is also trying to restock its roaster with A-list talent to replace some key performers who have retired or are phasing out their ring activity including Shawn Michaels, Dave Batista, Chris Jericho, Mark "The Undertaker" Calaway and McMahon's son-in-law Paul "Triple H" Levesque. WWE recently coaxed former star Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson to come back next year to take on John Cena.

"I think it is very obvious that they need to do something," Hudson Square Research managing director Marla Backer said of the company's plans. "Clearly, their prospects in terms of growth are limited if they stick to their knitting."

Not everyone embraces WWE's desire to move beyond the wrestling mat.

"I think that the most important thing right now is the return of the health of the core business," said Jay Kaplan, portfolio manager for Royce & Associates, which holds about 9% of WWE stock. "One of the market's big concerns is are they losing market share to real fighting," Kaplan added, referring to mixed martial arts and ultimate fighting.

This is not the first time WWE has tried to expand beyond its core. Several years ago it partnered with NBC to launch the XFL, a springtime football league that died after just one season. A restaurant in Times Square also flopped. McMahon said he's learned his lesson from those follies and will stick to the entertainment business.

More recently, WWE embarked on the movie business, financing low-budget genre films that often feature its own talent and quickly wind up on DVD.

None have been smash hits, but the film unit is eking out a small profit. It has made money for the last three years, although last year's take was a mere $400,000. Initially, WWE's movies were more action-oriented, but the company is attempting to broaden its slate to include family fare. It's next release, "That's What I Am," starring Ed Harris and Amy Madigan in a coming-of-age story about a student and teacher battling prejudice in the 1960s, premieres in theaters April 29.

Some analysts wonder whether WWE wants to grow to position itself for an eventual sale. There are very few independent programmers left, and with its healthy balance sheet WWE might be attractive to one of the bigger media companies. Also, McMahon is 65, and although he's still going strong, there hasn't been a clear heir apparent since his wife, Linda, resigned as chief executive in 2009 to pursue a political career.

At the moment, McMahon, who with his family is controlling shareholder, doesn't sound like a seller.

"We're very independent-minded," he said. "I don't see that happening."

I watched Tough Enough. Best part was when the girl said her favourite match of all time was "Melina versus Alicia Fox." LOL.

Edge retired wtf.

WWE: Homepage > Inside WWE > Injury forces Edge to retire

Less than a week after his successful title defense against Alberto Del Rio at WrestleMania XXVII, World Heavyweight Champion Edge has been forced to retire from in-ring competition due to injury. The unexpected news brings to an end a storied WWE career spanning 13 years and consisting of 11 World Title reigns. (CAREER PHOTOS)

The Rated-R Superstar had been suffering numbness and uncontrollable trembling in his arms and hands. This is not the first time Edge has experienced these symptoms of nueropraxia. An MRI administered at Atlanta Midtown Diagnostic Imaging last Monday was sent to Dr. Joseph Maroon, a renowned neurosurgeon and professor of neurosurgery at The Pittsburgh School of Medicine. After careful examination of the MRI, it was determined that Edge would never be cleared to compete again, and thus, he is forced to retire.

In 2003, Edge underwent a two level spinal fusion of the discs between his C5, C6 and C7 vertebrae. After being cleared to compete, The Rated-R Superstar returned to the ring, resulting in stenosis of the spine, or a narrowing of the spinal column, above and below the fused discs. This narrowing resulted in less and less of the vital fluid needed to protect the spinal cord. Medical professionals cannot clear Edge to compete ever again in WWE since doing so could result in paralysis or even death.

Must have been surprise news since a few days ago he was booked in a ladder match for the next ppv. I guess he's lucky to have wrestled for so long after his broken neck.
