Wrestling?

This is so weird. Ron along with the Miz and Randy Orton were the three wrestlers I'd say have the most secure jobs on the entire roster or “lifers” as the term goes. Not by being the biggest current stars but by just being reliable and useful to the company. Sure, he's getting up there in age, but he was literally an important part of the Cena heel storyline (and just wrestled him like last week!) and still gets major pops from the crowd, and entertains as well as he ever did. How on earth is he not still value for money?

It's actually baffling.

So TKO has managed to royally piss off the entire locker room (and substantially, I'd say), and the entire fan base. That's quite the feat, and the fact the response has been so visceral over Truth shows just how out of touch they are. It sounds like TKO put the budget cut requirements on Paul's desk and he was the one who made the call, according to Meltz.

They can't even use him being older as an excuse when they're literally using him as a main piece in the biggest story the company has had for months.

I'm sure RK had a decent contract at WWE, but whatever money they're saving on his salary pales in comparison to the PR damage and morale dip they've just unleashed on the locker room. Maybe some will say TKO doesn't care about PR and this will all blow over, but I doubt that's true when you consider how desperate WWE are, cap in hand, for positive press.

If I had to guess, they probably figured that by not renewing Truth to a full-time deal, they could just drop a Legends deal on him—which is much cheaper—and get the best of both worlds. Honestly, I think the TKO boardroom is filled with morons and they’ve massively misjudged this. They’re so out of touch it’s embarrassing. Not EVERYTHING is about bean counting. A crazy concept, but sometimes by investing in talent and showing loyalty to those have gone above and beyond for your company is the sound financial direction.

I honestly hope RK tells them to piss off and lands a deal at AEW or even TNA, even if it’s not as big as what he had with WWE. AEW would be hilarious, but maybe a long shot because I expect WWE to try to smooth this over because this has been a legit PR disaster. You never know, though.
