The rivals cranked up the heat on their undisputed WWE championship feud ahead of an "I Quit" match at Clash at the Castle on Saturday. Rhodes and Styles' first match at WWE Backlash was a barnburner. Their rematch is expected to deliver in the ring. It also benefits from a feud that has grown more personal with each passing week. Rhodes and Styles went face to face one last time on WWE SmackDown before their undisputed WWE title match. Friday Night SmackDown also featured the return of Randy Orton who rescued his friend Kevin Owens from another Bloodline beatdown.

WWE SmackDown results, recap, grades: Jacob Fatu debuts, Drew McIntyre leaves CM Punk in a stretcher

The Bloodline bolsters its ranks and CM Punk is left bloodied on a major episode of WWE SmackDown. Solo Sikoa continued to evolve Roman Reigns' faction by adding Jacob Fatu; meanwhile, Drew McIntyre put Punk in a stretcher in front of Punk's hometown crowd. The Bloodline set its sights on undisputed WWE champion Cody Rhodes immediately following Rhodes vs. AJ Styles at Clash at the Castle on Saturday. The combined forces of Rhodes, Randy Orton and Kevin Owens were enough to oppose the group, but only before the shocking arrival of Fatu. Friday's show also featured McIntyre's brutal attack on Punk, multiple Money in the Bank qualifier matches and fallout from the Wyatt Sicks' debut on Monday Night Raw.

WWE SmackDown results, recap, grades: The Bloodline destroys Paul Heyman for not acknowledging Solo Sikoa

The Bloodline has shed the last of its old regime. Solo Sikoa and his new soldiers rid themselves of Paul Heyman in a dramatic ending to Friday's episode of WWE SmackDown. SmackDown concluded with an acknowledgement ceremony. Jacob Fatu, Tama Tonga and Tanga Loa acknowledged Sikoa as their Tribal Chief, but Heyman could not concede Reigns' rule to Sikoa. WWE SmackDown results, recap, grades: The Bloodline destroys Paul Heyman for not acknowledging Solo Sikoa

Jey Uso kicked off this week's SmackDown with a promo talking about Money in the Bank. It didn't take long for LA Knight to interrupt.
Predictably, they were soon joined by the other MITB competitors. Carmelo Hayes, Chad Gable, Andrade and Drew McIntyre all tried to speak as they came out, but they were all cut off by the music of the person who followed them. McIntyre was met with loud CM Punk chants. He ran down each competitor before Andrade attacked him to kickstart a brawl. Knight and Uso worked together to take out McIntyre to end the segment.

WWE SmackDown results, recap, grades: The Bloodline lay out Randy Orton, Cody Rhodes in brutal assault

Undisputed WWE champion Cody Rhodes will need a new plan to leave SummerSlam with his title. Solo Sikoa and his iteration of The Bloodline picked up where they left off at Money in The Bank, standing tall over Rhodes and Randy Orton on WWE SmackDown. Rhodes and Orton found themselves light on manpower with the absence of Kevin Owens but still decided to meet The Bloodline head-on. It was a stubborn call that left Rhodes and Orton out for the count. SmackDown also featured a WWE tag team title match, meaningful movement toward a United States champion Logan Paul vs. LA Knight at SummerSlam and Tiffany Stratton's celebration after becoming Ms. Money in the Bank.

WWE SmackDown results, recap, grades: The Bloodline crush Kevin Owens' throat, put Cody Rhodes through a table

Solo Sikoa's version of The Bloodline is not a cheap imitation. Sikoa's group has been on a roll since "The Samoan Werewolf" Jacob Fatu debuted in June. The Bloodline 2.0 had one of their most impactful weeks laying out Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens on WWE SmackDown. Rhodes' chances at retaining the undisputed WWE championship at SummerSlam diminish with each passing week. The group decimated Rhodes and Owens, crushing Owens' throat with a steel chair and powerbombing Rhodes through the announcers' table. The Bloodline's strength grows as Rhodes' allies dwindle. This week's episode of SmackDown also prominently featured feuds revolving around the United States and WWE women's championships.

WWE SmackDown results, recap, grades: The Bloodline are champions, stipulation added to SummerSlam match

The Bloodline 2.0 is as hot as it has ever been. Jacob Fatu and Tama Tonga captured the WWE tag team titles on Friday's episode of SmackDown. Meanwhile, Solo Sikoa stacked the deck in his favor against Cody Rhodes at SummerSlam. WWE is dropping breadcrumbs ahead of an eventual showdown between the two iterations of The Bloodline. The success of that storyline requires strong showings from Sikoa's version of the faction. That was executed well this week as The Bloodline reintroduced tag team gold into its ranks. SmackDown also featured the final meeting between United States champion Logan Paul and LA Knight before SummerSlam, tension in the WWE women's title picture and a WWE women's tag team title match.

WWE SmackDown results, recap, grades: Roman Reigns takes out The Bloodline, Cody Rhodes challenges Kevin Owens

The head of the table is home. Roman Reigns returned to WWE SmackDown for the first time in months to remind Solo Sikoa who the original Tribal Chief is. The Bloodline wields the numbers advantage but Reigns has all the momentum. Reigns returned at SummerSlam last Saturday -- his first appearance at WrestleMania 40 in April -- to extinguish Sikoa's hopes of becoming undisputed WWE champion. Sikoa might regret his hostile takeover of The Bloodline if Friday's episode of SmackDown is any indication. SmackDown also set the stage for an undisputed WWE championship match between Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens, a match that Owens shockingly refused.

WWE SmackDown results, recap, grades: Kevin Owens gives Cody Rhodes a scare ahead of Bash in Berlin

Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens' friendship took a stress test on WWE SmackDown. The longtime allies are set to compete for the undisputed WWE championship at Bash in Berlin. Their match is built on respect but it seems doubts are creeping into the champ's head. Grayson Waller and Austin Theory -- tag team partners with their own baggage -- didn't manage to drive a wedge between Rhodes and Owens on Friday night, but they did sow the seeds for further dissent. It'll be interesting to see how Rhodes and Owens' friendship develops with nine days before their title match. This week's SmackDown also featured a pair of title matches. The Bloodline defended their WWE tag team championships for the first time, plus the United States title was on the line.

WWE SmackDown results, recap, grades: Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens' friendship is tested before Bash in Berlin

Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens' friendship may not endure their undisputed WWE championship match at Bash in Berlin. What started as a friendly competition became increasingly tense on Friday's episode of WWE SmackDown. The title match between Rhodes and Owens started respectfully but it's beginning to trend in the opposite direction. The real-life friends got into a verbal altercation on WWE SmackDown with fan-favorite Rhodes arguably getting dirtier than the often volatile Owens. It was an interesting shift in dynamic that added new wrinkles to both superstars. SmackDown also featured two title matches. WWE women's champion Nia Jax defended her title in a main event street fight against Michin. United States champion LA Knight opened the show with an open invitational. The superstar who stepped up to Knight's open challenge received a huge ovation from the German crowd.

WWE SmackDown results, recap, grades: Cody Rhodes vs. Solo Sikoa steel cage match booked for next week

Cody Rhodes and Solo Sikoa are running back their SummerSlam main event in a steel cage. Next week's undisputed WWE title match is the big news from Friday's episode of WWE SmackDown. Rhodes is cerebral on the microphone and tried to cause friction between Sikoa and his enforcer Jacob Fatu. Rhodes' efforts were unsuccessful on Friday, but it remains to be seen if cracks will emerge in The Bloodline. The champion will have seven days to prepare for a grueling cage match after reigniting his rivalry with WWE's most dangerous family. SmackDown also featured a match involving all four members of The Bloodline, plus appearances by United States champion LA Knight and recent undisputed WWE title challenger Kevin Owens.
