So the XFL is set to give it another go. The action kicks off next month, and we'll see if the league can make it through a full season — something the recent Alliance of American Football was unable to accomplishment. With the XFL come some player names that might sound familiar, either from their days in college and/or the NFL. Here's a look at some of the more notable players trying to prolong their pro football careers in the XFL, or at least until the rosters become official on Jan. 27.

2023 XFL lessons from Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson, Dany Garcia

Perhaps the most notable accomplishment of the XFL's season is it will conclude this weekend with no questions about its immediate future. The 2001 version of the league folded within weeks after its season ended. In 2020, the league suspended play at midseason because of the COVID-19 pandemic and soon entered bankruptcy. Under new ownership in 2023, however, the XFL has played a full 40-game regular season.

Subject: Cease and Desist - Disruptive Behavior

Dear Charles (@blackfoot NAP ; @C-40)

I am writing to address the persistent and disruptive activities that have become synonymous with your presence at TROLL KINGDOM. Your continuous posting of articles without any meaningful engagement, the incessant updating of threads with copied content, and the blatant use of "sock" accounts to manipulate post interactions, are detrimental to the community.

This letter serves as an explicit demand for the immediate cessation of these disruptive behaviors. TROLL KINGDOM is a space intended for substantive and meaningful discussions; your actions are not only counterproductive but actively detrimental to the community's atmosphere.

Your current online conduct reflects poorly on your own character and undermines the quality of interaction for genuine members seeking valuable discourse. It is evident that your approach deviates from the communal spirit TROLL KINGDOM strives to uphold.

I strongly urge you to reconsider your online conduct and recalibrate your approach to align with the ethos of TROLL KINGDOM. Failure to comply with this demand will leave me with no option but to escalate the matter further.

I trust that you will take this communication seriously and act promptly to rectify your online behavior.

Sincerely,

Merged XFL-USFL to be rebranded as United Football League

The merged XFL-USFL spring football league will be known as the UFL -- the United Football League -- its partners confirmed Sunday. Former XFL president/CEO Russ Brandon will hold the same title for the UFL, and former USFL president of football operations Daryl Johnston will lead the new league's football operations. Further details will be announced at a later time, including the number of teams and the cities they will represent. But the UFL did confirm that its March 30 opener will be played between the leagues' 2023 champions: the Arlington Renegades (XFL) and Birmingham Stallions (USFL).

A news release listed five UFL "partners": the three XFL owners -- Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Dany Garcia and Gerry Cardinale of RedBird Capital Partners -- USFL owner Fox Sports (represented by CEO Eric Shanks) and ESPN (represented by chairman Jimmy Pitaro). Disney/ESPN was the exclusive broadcast partner of the 2023 XFL season. The USFL and XFL played separate, partially overlapping schedules in 2023. The leagues announced an intent to merge on Sept. 28 and received approval from federal regulators Nov. 30. The XFL had previously discussed a partnership with the Canadian Football League in 2021, but negotiations did not lead to an agreement.
