You know what's weird about SoCal?

Winchell's SUCKS.

AND NO DUNKIN' DONUTS IN CALIFORNIA!!!!

My first trip to Chicago, everyone raved about thier coffee-I never had it-we tried to get a specialty drink and I am guessing that is not thier "specialty" because it was awful.
They had Starbucks in Chicago-and everyone assumes because I am from the Northwest that I would love Starbucks-but I don't. I prefer the privately owned and run coffee shops we have here.
I just thought the obbsession with dunkin donuts on the east was a strange phenomenon.

I was talking to a friend from New York one night and mentioned drive thru coffee stand and she didn't understand the concept. I counted the # of drive thru coffee places on my way home that night-in 10 miles there was about 1 per mile. Or more-and that isn't counting the gas stations or grocery stores where you could park and go get coffee.

We may have one of those around here, I'm not sure. There used to be a few of them (much like Dunkin' Donuts) but they went away, in fact there are no Dunkin' Donuts around here, haven't been for some time.

Perky's? :D

Around where I am, Starbuck's has a number of drive through coffee places.

Mirah, we have an "Aurora Donuts" which looks curiously like Dunkin Donuts.

I like Dunkin Donuts, it is an institution.
