It always surprises me that no matter how educated a man is he knows nothing about yeast infections.

A woman doesn't get a vaginal yeast infection because she is dirty and doesn't wash, generally she'll get one because she is too clean. The most common causes of yeast infections are douching or use of anti-biotics. Yeast forms when healthy vaginal bacteria is washed away or killed by anti-biotics. A yeast infection can also occur if a woman wears certain fabrics which do not allow the vagina to "breathe" and the yeast multiplies faster than the healthy bacteria can kill it.

Yeast infections while stank and harmful to the reproductive system if they occur frequently are not a filthy vagina disease.
