Rangers trade OF Nomar Mazara to White Sox for prospect
Mazara, 24, has tantalizing power but produced mixed results over his first four big league seasons. The 6-foot-4 slugger batted .268 with 19 home runs, 66 RBIs and a .786 OPS this year. Walker was a second-round draft pick out of the University of Oklahoma in 2018. He batted .284 with 10 homers and 62 RBIs across two Class A teams in his first full pro season.

Adam Jones signs on with Orix in Japan league
The 34-year-old former Baltimore Orioles and Arizona Diamondbacks All-Star outfielder Adam Jones hit .260 with 16 home runs and 67 RBIs with Arizona this past season.

The 25-year-old Peraza spent the past four seasons with the Reds. Known for his good eye at the plate, he hit .288 with 85 runs scored, 14 home runs and 23 steals in 2018, but those numbers dipped some this past season, when he posted a .239-37-6-7 line.

Corey Knebel, Brewers agree to same $5.1M salary
A 28-year-old right-hander, Knebel hurt his elbow during spring training and had surgery on April 3. He had been eligible for salary arbitration and will have the same salary as in 2019. His deal includes a $50,000 bonus for being comeback player of the year along with other award bonuses.

Five years ago, that number was 43. Schoop, a second baseman, and Cron, a first baseman, both were key components of a power-hitting Twins lineup that won their first AL Central crown since 2010 and broke MLB's single-season record with 307 home runs last season. The Tigers finished with the worst record in the majors last season at 47-114 and were 53.5 games behind the Twins in the division.

Report: Salary for Mets' Yoenis Cespedes cut from $29.5M to $6M for 2020
Cespedes agreed to a four-year, $110 million contract in December 2016 but hasn't played since July 20, 2018. The outfielder had surgery to remove bone calcification from his right heel on Aug. 2, 2018, and from his left heel that Oct. 26.

Source: Nationals, Starlin Castro reach 2-year, $12M deal
Castro had a .270 batting average with 22 home runs and 86 RBIs last season for the Miami Marlins, who declined his $16 million option and instead paid a $1 million buyout on Nov. 1. The 10-year veteran spent the first six seasons of his career with the Chicago Cubsbefore playing two seasons each with the New York Yankees and the Marlins. Castro has a .280 career average with 133 home runs and 636 RBIs.

Source: Nationals to bring back infielder Asdrubal Cabrera
The switch-hitting Cabrera batted .260 in 131 games last season with the Texas Rangers and Nationals. The 13-year veteran returned for his second stint with Washington in early August, less than two days after being released by the Rangers, who turned to youth.

Betts, who will be a free agent after the 2020 season, hit .295 with 29 home runs and 80 RBIs last season. He also led the AL with 135 runs scored. Selected by Boston in the fifth round of the 2011 draft, Betts is a career .301 hitter with an .893 OPS. Since making his major league debut in June 2014, Betts has led the major leagues in runs scored (613) and is second in extra-base hits (394) and fourth in hits (965). He also has led the Red Sox in home runs (139) and is second in RBIs (470) during that span.

That's a record for a first-time-eligible player, beating the $10.85 million Chicago Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant agreed to last year. Bellinger, 24, batted .305/.406/.629 with 47 home runs and 15 stolen bases through what became a breakout season in 2019, on a salary of $605,000.

Reds' Trevor Bauer agrees to $17.5M deal to avoid arbitration
An All-Star in 2018, his results slipped significantly last season when he went 2-5 with a 6.39 ERA in 10 starts with the Reds. That left him 11-13 overall with a 4.48 ERA in 34 games with Cleveland and Cincinnati. The 13 losses were a career high, and his ERA was the second highest for a full season.

Indians, Francisco Lindor reach $17.5M deal for 2020
Lindor has become one of baseball's best all-around players and he's certain to land a monster free-agent contract once he's on the market. The 26-year-old hit .284 with 32 home runs and 74 RBIs last season. He scored 101 runs and stole 22 bases.

Derek Jeter, Larry Walker elected to Baseball Hall of Fame

Jeter played all 20 of his seasons for the Yankees after being drafted with the sixth pick of the 1992 amateur draft as a high school player out of Kalamazoo. A 14-time All-Star, Jeter was named AL Rookie of the Year in 1996 and finished in the top 10 of AL MVP balloting eight times, topping out at second in 2006. He scored 100 or more runs 13 times and ranks sixth all time with 3,465 career hits. While leading the Yankees to five World Series crowns during his career, Jeter played in a record 158 playoff games -- 33 more than any other player. His postseason OPS (.838) was 21 points better than his regular-season mark (.817).

Walker spent his 17-year career with the Montreal Expos (1989-94), Colorado Rockies (1995-2004) and St. Louis Cardinals (2004-05), winning the 1997 National League MVP for Colorado. He hit .366 that season with a career-high 49 homers, 130 RBIs and a .720 slugging percentage. Walker won NL batting crowns in 1998 (.363), 1999 (.372) and 2001 (.350). Known for his athleticism and strong arm, Walker won seven Gold Gloves during his career, and his .965 OPS ranks 15th all time.Walker hit .313 for his career with .383 homers, 1,311 RBIs and 230 stolen bases and was a five-time All-Star.

Kintzler, 35, is coming off one of the best years of his career, compiling a 2.68 ERA and 1.018 WHIP with the Chicago Cubs. The former All-Star closer with the Minnesota Twins could regain his ninth-inning role with the Marlins, who feature a young team.
